Hey everyone! Hope your week started well! :) For people taking Sertraline (Zoloft*), I was wondering if anyone else was taking 50mg/day? And what your experiences are/were, if you don't mind sharing please? (When did you start feeling better, did you end up needing more, etc?)
It took me 2-3 months of taking it everyday for it to take its full effect on me I had to go up to 100mg then 150mg at one point which sorted me out I think everyone is different but it’s one of them things where you have to try and see the results. Also any side affects should go once you take it for long enough some may not but I found mine completely went. I hope this helps you and try not to worry because it’s only going to help :)
Thank you so much for your answer. So you took 50mg for 2-3 months and after that had to go up, if I understood correctly? I'm very anxious to start and ended up seeing two doctors with different approaches. One gave me 100mg from the start (within the first two weeks) and the other said to start with 50mg first.
@Anonymous* The only reason I had a higher dose is because 50 mg wasn’t enough for my ocd and anxiety so you may find 50mg is enough but once you take it for some time you’ll probably get a follow up with ur doctor and they’ll see how your getting along and if you need more they’ll most likely give it to you. It just depends on how it affects you (not in a bad way) just if it’s strong enough or if you need more. I’ve been taking it for 5 years now and it helped me sm and I can actually live a normal lifestyle

I’ve been on 50mg Sertraline now for 75 days (not counting or anything!). Started off ok and felt better between day 9 - 20 and then felt so so between day 21 - 30. I had my 4 week review and it was agreed with my doctor to stay on 50mg. Started feeling better again between day 30 until about day 50ish. Started getting a few vivid dreams and had my next follow up with the doctor. Agreed that as 50mg was working for my anxiety he was very reluctant to put the dose up. From around Day 60 to 70 started feeling better but not feeling so great between day 70 - today. I have found I still get the intrusive thoughts but with the Sertraline it has really numbed the anxiety so when the intrusive thoughts happen I don’t get the same anxiety symptoms which starts the classic OCD cycle or do I like the thoughts etc…. (Obviously I don’t). The only other symptoms I have had was my teeth would chatter and tiredness. I have had so GI issues lately but that could be the anxiety response I’m getting as they seem to co inside. I know Sertraline can take a while to work and seen that it can take 12 weeks or more to get any real benefit. Everyone’s body is different so you can’t really predict the side effects. I put off taking medication for tue best part of 20 years until my current themes basically made it difficult to manage without help. Good luck with you journey. Just remember if Sertraline does not agree with you there are plenty of other medicines that your doctor can try.

Hi all! I am on Zoloft 100mg and I was hoping to get some feedback! My biggest fear is being suicidal and sometimes I’m like checking to see if I am suicidal on the medication but then I think maybe it’s my ocd. My doctor wants to go higher but I’m wondering if this is a good idea based on my thoughts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I’m new to the community. I was diagnosed with OCD just a couple of months ago and have been doing some reading and other research to try and understand the disorder. With this, I have been actively seeing a great therapist who has been helpful to build tools to deal with my intrusive thoughts ( contamination OCD is my worst theme). Do help learn to deal with the compulsions, I start on Sertraline or “Zoloft” I believe since November 2024. Currently I’m on 50mg and have been doing this for just over a month. My question for those who are also taking Sertraline and it has been successful, how do you know it has really provided a benefit and how long did it take to get there? I sometimes feel the medication works, and sometimes I feel it doesn’t (maybe that’s my OCD trying to mess with things). Thanks!
