I have OCD and ADHD, ADHD causes people to obsess over certain interests or hobbies (called hyperfixations) you get stuck on it for a while and that’s all you can think about, because you enjoy it so much every time you partake in that activity you get a dopamine hit. You’re stimulated, which is what an ADHD brain lives off of. Being under-stimulated causes and ADHD brain to go into a kind of turmoil causing anxiety, bouts of depression, and the like. OCD however is where doubt comes in. ADHD is a co-morbid disorder, which means if you have ADHD, you probably have something else with it, OCD, depression, anxiety, etc. I would say this, do the thing you enjoy. However, make sure you’re taking the time to take care of yourself. Because when you’re hyper focused on your activity, it’s easy to neglect your needs. I hope this helps you some!

In mindfulness we learn not only to accept and sit with bad thoughts but to not get over attached to good thoughts. Everything is temporary and the more we can let things flow naturally the healthier we will feel emotionally.

Wow, it really did. Thank you. I didn’t really know doubt was a big thing in OCD. I constantly have doubts about my hobbies or interests. I’m afraid that one day I’ll magically wake up and be uninterested or that they won’t provide the stimulation I want them to

Mindfulness currently is so elusive to me almost to the point where I don’t understand it, because my brain has never functioned like that, but I’m going to give that a try. I feel like if we learn to accept the obsessing, even if it’s good, we minimize the emotional impact negative thoughts have on us and the good thoughts flow in and out naturally
