Sickness OCD

A couple hours ago I started having a fever, my body can’t stop shivering and my fingertips are numb. I took medicine for it, but my ocd is off the rails right now I can’t control my emotions. It’s just a fever, everyone gets them, but I can’t stop crying bc my ocd is making my life flash before my eyes. It’s so dramatic and I hate it. I hate how this happens every time I get particularly ill, my ocd makes it ten times worse and makes me feel like I’m dying. I’ve been panicking for an hour and just trying to distract myself with social media while the medicine kicks in. I wish my mom was here.

I know exactly how you feel, I also had a low grade fever today and was freaking out for hours until I reached out to a friend and asked her if she had maybe gotten me sick. She told me that she was sick as well and that brought some comfort as it rationalized my illness and made me less anxious not being sick alone. I miss living with my mom times like this too but you’re not alone. It’s flu and cold season rn so stuff is just going around, we’re gonna get through it together! :)

i completely understand how you feel no lie i hadnt slept in ab 2 days a few weeks ago bc of mh head racing from other things and i started getting light headed from hyperventilating without realizing it and shit you not i called my mom, my primary doc and then 911 and went to the hospital and when they did all the tests and stuff i didnt believe i wasnt going to die i thought i was going into organ failure or that i grew an aneurysm over night and it was leaking like i was fully convinced i was on my death dead even when i got back from the hospital before i went to bed i was begging my mom to take me back bc i thought if i fell asleep i wouldnt wake up. Since then ive been having almost spirals that are like that but i stop myself and say this is how i felt last time and i didnt die, i dont google my symptoms bc next thing you know i have stage 4 cancer and water in my lungs lmfao, and if i cant calm myself down on my own i call a friend i trust and ask them to help me go thru the facts that i am very much alive and not anywhere close to my death bed

@dianeee its kind of embaressing to call someone and tell them you think youre dying over a flu symptom but real friends will not judge you and will do everything they can to help ease your mind

Contamination/Somatic OCD support

Hi i’m new here. Everyone in my family except me is now positive for Covid and i’m freaking out so badly i cannot sleep. i cannot eat. i’m worried i’m going to get sick, i have a phobia of throwing up too on top of all of this so it’s making this even more difficult hearing coughing/gagging/vomit. My face is literally tingling numb and i cannot sit still. I’m trying to calm myself the best I can because this is almost a nightmare to me but nothing is working and my therapist isn’t even responding to me. What do i do? i’m so scared

Feeling Scared

TW: talk of cancer I don’t post on here much, but I’ve been dealing with Health Concern OCD my whole life. I am constantly searching for mystery illnesses that could be causing even the slightest discomforts in my body. My lymph nodes are swollen, I am trying to rationalize my thinking by saying I could just have a cold. However, I cannot stop thinking about it. I am terrified of having some form of cancer/lymphoma that I may not have noticed until now. I am restless and unable to sleep, all I can think about is what is going to happen if I get this checked out by a doctor. I want to know why this is happening in my body, but I’m scared that my worst nightmare might be true and if I was too late to get seen. I’m feeling very defeated, and trapped in my own head. Nobody knows how debilitating my OCD really is because I put on a very good facade of seeming like I’m cool calm and collected. Most of the time, I’m freaking out over the smallest changes or feelings.

SOOCD worse when I’m sick

I’ve been super sick all the last 5 days and my so-ocd is so overwhelming and intense. Anyone else experience way worse obsessions when they’re sick? Googling about so-ocd to make sure my symptoms still match (of course they will I’ve been dealing with this for 6+ months)/going on Reddit to read people’s similar stories are huge compulsions of mine. I know I shouldn’t be doing it but I feel so anxious and overwhelmed when I do nothing. Needed some encouragement & wanted to see if anyone relates to feeling way worse when they’re sick? Hope everyone is having an ok week!
