Medications
Has anyone taken any medications that completely just removed the ocd? Or did you still have issues with it?

Hi Layla! I take Clomipramine (Anafranil) and it has really helped me cope with the intrusive thoughts and anxiety. It’s specified for OCD. It doesn’t take it away completely but has definitely made a difference in my thoughts and mental state. Some days I still have hard times but I have good days too which are also important.
@shannonmauss Thank you! I’ve had another friend who got on that. Said it worked. The other things I’ve tried it made me worse so I’m very skeptical
Hey Layla. I take Zoloft and it helps with my anxiety. It will calm the thoughts at times. But it has not removed the OCD. The medicine does give me a little reprieve at night, (most of the time). It's taking therapy and meds for me and somedays I still struggle alot.
@ElevenB Yeah that’s the medicine that sent me into another dimension but are you on a super high dose?
@ElevenB I’m not sleeping. I’m worn down
@Layla32 I had to go on Trazadone. Adjusting to it was tough but it helped me sleep. I am slowly weaning off of it now. Did your doctor recommend medicine at your visit?
@ElevenB He does herbs first to try and help. How many mg are you on? I tried that already. I get really anxious and go into fight or flight when I try to go to sleep 😢
@Layla32 I was on 100 mg. I take 25 now. I'm slowly getting off of it.
I took fluoxetine and now just started again
There's no magic pill. It's about retraining your brain. Medications only help with the symptoms.
@Someone99 I agree but I’m really struggling with my moods and anxiety. I’ve been crying the past few days and just very irritable and annoyed. I just feel exhausted also no sleep again 😒
@Layla32 I know it's difficult, especially the sleep thing
I take Prozac, it helps a lot with anxiety/depression but doesn’t get rid of my thoughts really.
Lorazepam as needed works in 10 min
@Ocdgirl97 U can take another one in two hours doesn’t take thoughts away but makes it to wear I can ignore it
For those who have had success with medication for OCD/anxiety, how is your life different now compared to before starting medication?
I understand that everyone is different but lately I have been debating on medication just because of past experiences but does anyone have any good experiences with medication that has helped them with their OCD as well as therapy or treatment? As of now I’m dealing with it by myself but it feels like it may be getting worse
Has anyone had success treating their OCD without medication and solely ERP or non-medicinal methods. I have pretty severe OCD and just about every sub-type, but I’ve been on various meds (SSRI & SNRIs) for going on 8 years and have never found one that truly relieves me of symptoms. I’m looking to see if it’s worth continuing with the side effects I experience (mostly mild) or if there are alternatives that could work for me. Low key tired of constantly changing meds in an attempt to find something that works when maybe medicine isn’t the route for me…
