Dunno if it's boredom, depression, or just not being in the mood but I just don't find video games that fun anymore. They most of the time upset me more than actually make me feel like I'm having fun. I don't know what else to do with my time. Anyone else get this?
It could be depression. I felt the same way about my hobbies too. ❤️
Yeah, maybe. I don't feel like trying new things and I don't enjoy what I'm already doing as much. Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not
Yes. Videogames was my hobby as well. Minecraft is one of the games for me that just naturally is super fun at first but gets really boring. But, for other games, I don't know what it is. I know I get depressed when I play videogames, and also bored
I'm either upset at losing in a game over and over or I'm just bored of the library of games that I have every single time. I don't really find any joy anymore. Sorry you get this too. Maybe we've just overindulged in this and need a break.
@BigGyro09 Yeah, maybe. Losing in a game isn't so bad, if you don't already have a bunch of things on your plate. But now when I'm already depressed about so many things in my life, losing in a game has so much more weight to it. And it's not just that, it's really any inconvenience for me
@Anonymous Then I guess I am depressed. There are some things weighing me down and it feels like when I can't do something right it hits on a personal level. I don't want that to be the case but I can't help what comes up when it comes to my inner voice and thoughts. Lately I've been upset when I'm not good at stuff either. So maybe it is that because others would want to learn and accept failures I think.
@BigGyro09 Okay. I'm not trying to tell you what it is, and I just wanted to clarify that just in case you thought that was what I was doing. I totally understand those feelings. I was thinking just last night about how much of our thoughts are not in our control, how easily they can be manipulated by the things that happen to us. And I don't like that that's the case. If, for example, people are regularly saying things that are hurtful to you, you can't just "have a positive mindset" all the time. My situation has eaten away at my mental state over the past few years, and a lot of the thoughts that come with that aren't easily overcome. Maybe there's some way to get over it, but not without a lot of hard work, and sometimes that hard work has to be done alone. I'm sorry for ranting there
@Anonymous Do you want to talk about what it is that's bothering you? Maybe that can help. I'm sorry to hear that you've been bothered by the same thing for a while. The way I said it could be depression didn't come out right. Sorry. It could be 1 of three possibilities. I agree with all of what you're saying though.
@BigGyro09 I didn't think you thought I was trying to tell you what it was, but I just wanted to make sure. It's just that people don't understand my feelings, and when I talk about my religious worries with others, they don't seem to listen and they act hypocritical about it, and I just don't feel very supported in my time of need. People usually just try to disprove my worries instead of listening
@BigGyro09 And I feel like talking about the specific issue just makes me feel worse.
@Anonymous I'm sorry to hear that. Who are these people in your life that aren't respecting your feelings and worries? Are they friends? I hope there aren't family members. Have you ever asked why they get like this about what you say and feel?
@BigGyro09 It is everyone. Family, others with OCD, therapists, etc. (I don't really have friends atm) I have asked why, but it's religious stuff; people are very opinionated about this stuff. Idk... there's probably a few reasons. But, for some reasons I can't quite explain, people just don't seem honest with me, and they don't want to just listen when I vent. I told my therapist (who is not with NOCD but still an OCD therapist) about a book that had a spot that said exactly what I thought people had been saying all my life but won't admit to me when I say I'm sad about it, and I brought it up to say that that book made me feel not crazy for thinking that, and he wanted to know the name of the book because I might have a misconception about what the book said. I was just trying to say it showed that people actually said that and that I wasn't absurd for thinking people told me that in the past
@Anonymous It sounds like your therapist is helping you out well with this. I'm glad you have a therapist helping you out! Do the people around you not understand what it is you're going through? Do you also feel like that is the case, in case you don't know if they don't understand you or not? So, what you're saying is, people are saying something about you but they aren't exactly saying it, but a connotation is being given off exactly what it is? Sorry if I got that wrong.
@BigGyro09 It's super, duper complicated. I don't even understand it. My therapist is trying to help, but maybe in an unhelpful way. People do and don't understand what the problem is. It's complicated. I try to tell them, but they don't exactly understand, and they end up saying hurtful, hypocritical things. It feels like they should know what the issue is, but they don't act like they understand or listen. I've been trying to explain myself for 2 years with no luck... Basically, people do say the thing I think they're saying. But then I say I'm sad. Then people turn their words around and downplay the things they said that I'm sad about. It's done in a hypocritical fashion, where they say one thing, I say I'm sad, then they flip the things they are saying around I'm sure I didn't answer you in a very clear way. But it's really complicated. I haven't been able to explain myself accurately in 2 years
@Anonymous It sort of makes sense. It sounds like people are understanding of what is making you upset and this is really bothering you, but they don't know how to get to the part where they help you with this issue. Maybe their answer of how their helping you isn't as helpful as them understanding that you're sad about this thing you've told them you're dealing with. Could that be it? I don't know what it is exactly that is making you sad but I'm assuming it is to do with OCD. OCD can be complicated in such unfortunate ways. I'm sorry you've been having issues explaining your struggles for so long. I hope you get better with this. I hope it all gets better for you and I hope your therapist has a plan for tackling this with you.
@BigGyro09 Maybe that's it. Again, it's complicated... It might be partly OCD, but I feel like there is some part that's not all OCD. Thanks. I hope the same for you
I’m not saying this is it, but don’t disregard the idea as you get older video games get less appealing. I play a lot of CoD atm, but I’ll be the first to say I could and should be focusing on more productive things.
I won't know for sure what it actually is. Maybe it's depressing, boredom, or I'm getting older. I have played call of duty in the past with a friend and it was enjoyable but I haven't gone back to it. Most of the enjoyment for games I have is short lived too.
I should be doing more productive things too. I'll admit that. But, it's honestly not easy

@Erick K Yep. It's the exact same way for me. I'm trying with therapy and physical therapy but I'm just in no mood to do much else, even if I need to
I understand both of you. I'll find myself able to eventually work up enough frustration with the fact that I'm not getting stuff done that I'll find myself doing work. But after a few weeks of sticking to my routine, I find myself on the "hamster wheel of life" and lose motivation to keep doing it. Just doing the essentials (ERP, therapy, college, job, whatever) is hard enough...
So I’m so bored lately I have everything I want and could ask for but I’m a dopamine junkie so I jump from item to item and I’m still bored and I have “toys “ stay with me I’ll explain … so I have actual toys like dolls and stuffed animals because I still enjoy younger things at times … yep I’m still an adult … but that being said I won’t “play “ or interact with younger toys because I feel it’s not age appropriate and I want to fit in with society’s norms … that being said I have a Xbox s I have a Nintendo switch … a legion go hand held system … a portable dvd player and I’m sure other things I can’t remember… no I don’t act like a spoiled brat and want or need for everything and I’m very grateful…. But that being said out of all the things I have nothing really keeps my attention I just impulse buy them… I obsess about buying them for months I buy them and use them for a little bit and get bored …… then I feel ungrateful for not using an expensive item or gift.:. Go back and use that item and then the cycle repeats … I just can’t find anything that truly keeps me entertained and engaged … and keeps me wanting to fool with it every day or interact with it …. I want to find something that gives me a sense of accomplishment and excitement… and game systems and whatever else just don’t do that for me … like I said I promise I’m not a spoiled adult /brat ❤️
Idk if im the only one but I've literally just been holed up in my bedroom for the past 3 months and have barely gone out especially in the last 2. I'm too scared to leave and interact with people normally because I feel like a criminal and like someone who doesn't deserve to be around others. But in the same breath, I'm starting to hate my bedroom. It just feels like all my negative emotions are being bottled up and stored in here. I keep telling myself I should go out and take a walk and maybe it will feel better to just be out in the fresh air. But also don't want to because I'm quite lethargic on top of not eating that much either. Just feeling... stuck.
I went online today playing a social game & couldn’t rlly talk to anyone. there was this one girl that started talking but then my wifi started acting up. it’s rlly hard to talk to ppl online bc it’s tiring having to put up with rude ass people. yeah, I can do in person but I also struggle with that too. the online friends I have don’t rlly talk much and I guess it makes sense bc everyone is busy with life but man. I’ve been feeling quite lonely as of late and idk how much I can hold on. it’s like I’m losing touch with the online ones. I don’t have any irl since 17 & I am tired. idk man I just wanna disappear and spawn in another world or jus be happy. I think I might quit my job and pursue a design job at home depot thru networking bc that’s a plan B I have. that’s if I can even land the job. I think I might take a break from college bc idek what I want atp. I feel like I’m slowly dying inside from this loneliness. I am trying everyday. this feeling is soooo ass
