Can pocd latch on to one gender. Because it seems like mine has. It’s very uncomfortable and I just can’t get through the day with it just lingering in my head. I also work in a school so I’m constantly being triggered.
It absolutely can, with ocd I just go with the phrase “anything is possible” because whatever ocd wants you to be scared of, it will do! Sorry to hear that you’re struggling :(

@Vanderpoll1 I completely understand how you feel, this theme is arguably the worst theme to experience and I really hope you can find some self compassion for yourself because what you’re going through is not easy at all and you deserve to have some peace (even tho the intrusive thoughts won’t let you have it) :)

I have many hobbies. I like to run and play football which I do. But because this theme is new to me I’m finding it very difficult. But I’m gonna be okay I know I’ve got this. I’m strong

It’s also killing my emotions. I don’t feel anything atm. When I get home from work I just want to sit or go to sleep. I’m not in the mood for anything. It seems to be harder of a night at home when I’m doing nothing and my thoughts run wild. Me and my partner speak about it but I don’t want it to get the better of my relationship
@Vanderpoll1 Ocd thrives off of idleness, is there any way you could find a hobby that would allow you to focus on it (eg. Crochet or something)? I would also recommend obviously trying to find a therapist that specialises in ERP, however I know that isn’t possible for everyone which sucks :( Very happy that you have a partner that you feel comfortable enough to talk to tho!

Keep doing your activities . Accept and find peace with the thoughts. You don’t have to like them, but let them be there. Once you retrieve from your normal day to day it’ll signal you brain that the thoughts matter and they don’t. Stay strong !
I'm struggling with pocd it feels very real and I'm at a point where I feel I need to go to confess to the police stuff I know I haven't done but have false memories of doing and I feel like nobody thinks like this and very alone.
it feels like therapy isn't working at all, like I've been super reluctant to participate or try and get better. I was doing really well at first but I've been in a slump with it lately, and the idea of doing exposures again makes me really scared. Like, I know if have to do them to get better but I'm so afraid that I'll pick something, watch it, and think the child character is attractive and start fantasizing about them. Like what if the only thing keeping me from doing that is because I've been avoiding them? Also is it normal for pocd to convince you that you prefer one gender more strongly than the other? Bc for some reason it feels more real with boys than it does girls (I'm mostly straight) and like.. idk I'm just not feeling good.
Anyone with pocd in the subset of teens/ fear of being attracted to teens have any advice? I never see anyone talking about it and it’s making me go a lil cray lmao
