ERP treatment for OCD isn't effective for me; I'm overwhelmed and stressed.

Writing this reply because I don’t want my ocd to whine about a void or plain reply section my ocd is digital only and does not exist in real life

Unfortunately my ocd is pretty severe and it’s not the first time I tired erp and I’m not doing it willingly either so what happened was my ocd likes for me to press X on every thing that notifications asks me and I do just that to avoid my ocd it sent me a notification on discord but I was tpying too fast and missed it and now my brain stopped working

I believe this is what happens at the start of erp, I am experiencing almost the same thing, though right now I started to think the thoughts should not matter to me anymore. What did help was listening to frequencies on youtube it calmed me a lot.

ERP definitely doesn’t feel like it works in the beginning, but it does help with time. Maybe check with someone if they’re the right kinds of compulsion resistance and not just an OCD “this is totally helping but it’s OCD tricking you into doing compulsions”

Idk how you feel about meds but Zoloft helped my ocd intrusive thoughts calm down which made it easier for me to let go of the thoughts. They just felt like they had less control over me. Zoloft w therapy can definitely help. I was on a low dosage too. Not saying you need meds but if you feel hopeless there is nothing wrong with meds to help you get over the hump! Ive been having very bad anxiety/ocd thoughts that have been crippling and I’m going to start Zoloft again to help me work through my fears

I’m so sorry it’s not going well. Perhaps the exposure you’re doing is too high? ERP should be uncomfortable but not completely unbearable. Have you tried other types of therapy too? There are different options available so please don’t give up.
