Worried I'll shout racial slur during sleep study

I have a scheduled overnight sleep study next week and I'm worried that I'm going to yell a racial slur in my sleep or when the sleep technician wakes me up in the morning. This really upsets me because racial slurs are wrong and I would never want to shout one. I'm afraid I'll go into the sleep study worrying so much about shouting a slur, that I'd potentially dream about it, think about it so much, and end up shouting one. I hate this. I know I need to sleep during my sleep study and now I'm worried about this. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I understand your concern about the sleep study. It's important to remember that your worries are driven by OCD, and they don't reflect your true intentions. Practice mindfulness, and trust the process of the study. Your focus should be on getting a good night's sleep. OCD wants you to figure this out and prevent yourself from saying something inappropriate. Remember, just because you think you might do something, doesn't mean you will. This is the famous lie by OCD. There is a reason we call it the doubting disorder. Good luck with your sleep study! And if this is a concern that bleeds over into other areas of your life, consider joining the NOCD family. Here, every therapist is trained to treat OCD using ERP (exposure and response prevention).

I'm still so incredibly scared of doing things that would put me in a vulnerable state because of the fear that I might say something my OCD thinks. You are not your OCD and you are not your thoughts.

I cant sleep

Im so scared to fall asleep I genuinely do not want to because the fact that there are confirmed cases of people murdering others in their SLEEP is enough proof that my fears are legitimate. What if i harm myself or my family. what if the next time my boyfriend sleeps over I hurt him. what if I am eating cough drops in my sleep and that's why they are in my bed when I fell asleep with them on my end table, and I choke on one and die. These fears are genuine like yeah ocd is probably amplified it but the proof that this happens is hard to ignore. if I could lock myself in a empty room every night with no way of hurting anyone I absolutely would at least I'd know me and everyone else is safe. how do I even begin to combat this fear again and not let this fear bother me anymore.

Sleepless in Sleep Anxiety

Hi everyone! I’m not sure if anyone has had any issues with sleep and anxiety but these past couple of weeks I’ve been suffering with anxiety when trying to sleep. My mind will latch on to the idea that I won’t sleep and I’ll continuously try to fall asleep and end up psychoanalyzing everything im doing . Usually I end up freaking out and not sleeping and waking up with maybe >2 hrs a sleep a night and have an awful day the next day. I’m lowkey hopeless in this situation, I’ve tried melatonin, sleeping early, limited screen time and nothing will work.. does anyone have any tips and tricks on what to do?

I am very nervous to start

I am extremely nervous for my first session with a NOCD therapist. I feel myself tapping and counting more, what if he doesn’t like me? What if I’m not open enough? What if I talk too much? What if I tell things I don’t want to tell. Is this the right platform for OCD/ROCD ? Can’t sleep.
