does anyone ever struggle with intrusive thoughts and even feelings of your spouse or SO dying suddenly? it’s been a theme for me the past few weeks and i’m not sure what’s causing it. he’s perfectly healthy and fine but it’s been so intense that i’ll just sit there and cry and cry and feel such intense grief.
i feel the same way. my intrusive thoughts mainly get triggered whenever i know he’s driving somewhere or whenever we’re driving together. it’s so scary
It happens to me too, my psychologist recommends to keep my mind busy with other stuff when I get those thoughts. Try eating a sour candy or something to pull you out of the thought!
Yes!!! I feel like I'm mourning and preparing for something that hasn't even happened, it sucks so much
Yes this has been happening to me the last few weeks with my parents. It feels like OCD but I’m unsure how to deal with it because it seems more like something thats certain to happen at some point, so I dont see how I could accept uncertainty with it like typical OCD themes. Not even really sure what my compulsions are other than just crying and obsessing over the thought of it (or if that even is a compulsion)

@Hannah B. I do this with my mom when she’s working out of fear she got in an accident or got kidnapped 😭😞
Yes since my husband travels a lot for work. But he does his absolute best to stay safe and that’s all you can do.
TRIGGER WARNING! I feel the same way about my mom and cats. I’ll imagine horrific short movie scenarios in my head and it can get very overwhelming and traumatic. Realistic situations but also unrealistic. For example: house catching on fire, car accident, cancer etc.

My ocd theme is currently centered around the extreme fear of my boyfriend or a loved one dying ?
I believe I have undiagnosed OCD but was wondering if anyone else goes through this struggle. I constantly think of ways my loved ones might die. Whether that be from an event happening or a situation I am in with them and I am afraid to leave them in fear that they will die and I will be left alone. For example, I could be indoors with my family and they all go outside without me. I immediately imagine a tornado coming up, knocking over a tree and killing my family with me left to survive. Or I think of certain scenarios where a disease (especially with Covid-19 going around) could infect a loved one and my mind creates vivid images of how they could die of the disease. Does anyone else experience this? How do you cope?
i don’t know if this falls under a specific theme or is even related to ocd. if someone could help me out i would really appreciate it ever since i was younger, i’ve had really upsetting thoughts about losing my loved ones and it would get to a point where i vividly imagine their death scenes play out in my head and it’s started to effect me during a day-to-day basis. sometimes i even imagine myself dying and the imagery shows me how my friends and family react to my passing usually when i think of something happy, my brain enters this cycle where i begin to think of some upsetting and distressing moment and i cant help but think about it for the rest of the day i’ve had a common fear of death for a really long time, but it’s gotten really bad now is this a form of some intrusive thought? please let me know what you think
