Medicaid regulations causing a delay in care.

@tylermatthewsnead They told me they’re working on it. Idk who to be upset with. Them, the government, myself for ruining it by adding my insurance. I already knew they didn’t take it— I should’ve just left it alone! Makes me hate myself honestly.

@KCAnon The fact that you’re reaching out for help is really good. Give yourself compassion , because most people don’t ever reach out for help and you took a big and strong step. Be proud of yourself and also I owe NOCD $230 cause they didn’t accept my insurance. It happens to the best of us. Once I find a job I’m gonna start paying out of a pocket for bi weekly sessions

@KCAnon Until then I attend most of the group sessions they hold (which are free) and I use YouTube for help and I find therapist who accept my insurance and work with them as best as I can. Some of them work with people who have OCD but they don’t specialize , but when you really need someone to talk too then take what you can get for the moment

@tylermatthewsnead I can’t even do a group session because it makes me attend an individual session first to unlock it. And my account is flagged so that I can’t schedule anything since Medicaid doesn’t allow cash-pay. I have a therapist currently but she doesn’t know OCD well and actually unintentionally made me feel invalidated. She is very trauma and adhd informed but not so much OCD— which I think will help the former. Idk how to get around this so I can get a diagnosis and specific therapy. For now I will do what I can but I still feel pretty helpless. I have a lot of trouble letting go of things. Thank you for your kindness and words though.

@KCAnon Omg I didn’t know you had to attend a session in order to do group work. I didn’t know it was set up that way. I could’ve sworn those meetings are supposed to be open for everyone. Even people who don’t do therapy with NOCD can join them because they have a group for family members with loved ones who have OCD to help them better understand the disorder

But when I go to the page it says: “Online support groups for OCD Join us to meet others who are on a similar OCD journey, share your personal story, and learn ways to overcome challenges related to OCD. There's no cost to participate. Support groups are hosted on Zoom and led by a NOCD therapist. Support groups will be available after you have completed your First Session.”

@KCAnon Oh wow. I did not realize that. Okay well let me tell you what happened with me. When I first downloaded the app I attended my first session hoping they’d take my insurance. My session was already scheduled before they accepted my insurance. My insurance didn’t cover it , but the credit card that they charged was my cash app card. I always use my cash app card because it never gets charged. So now I owe NOCD $230 but I haven’t paid for that in over 6 months and not planning on paying it until I have the extra money , but because I attended that session I was able to go to groups. Basically I was desperate and was willing to be charged , but it led me to be able to attend groups so if you wanna do that you could.

@Anonymous here The group sessions are held on zoom , and their not a replacement for therapy (but I consider them a replacement in my opinion) because your with people who understand what your going through and feel less alone. They discuss topics that most people with OCD worry about and it’s a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Tap the middle button that says “Therapy” on the NOCD app and it’ll show you the scheduled times and dates they have meetings
