intrusive thoughts from OCD specifically thrive on things you feel negatively about. it creates a feedback loop in your brain that can make you question what you think is true. I would say if you usually feel yes, then that's how you truly feel. The thought recurs because of your disgust response, not because you want to think about it. it's one of the things that's so frustrating about the intrusive thoughts!!

You r duffering from a moral delimma and blaming yourself for not being super grossed out by such idea. Maybe you are afraid that you could be a pedophile. Well, you are not. Trying to experience these thoughts and play them around to make sure you are not bad is a compulsive behavior. You have enough moral backgroynd to know that this practice is not ok. You do not need to follow your intrusive thoughts all the way to be certain 100 % that you are moral. U need to talk to your therapist about how to stop trying out these thoughts abd stop trying to seek certainty about your moral compass

I was diagnosed with OCD around the age of 6, subtype- contamination primarily. It calmed down as I got older and I assumed it had gone away, but also didn’t realize it can show up in other ways, and it still had been effecting me which I know now. I’m not 31 and I’ve been in therapy for a year and it’s helped a lot, although I sometimes get thoughts that what if some of the stuff I’m dealing with isn’t ocd and I’m exaggerating. I feel like thoughts will feel sticky and I’ll do certain compulsions but then the thought eventually vanishes if I do it a few times which makes me think maybe it’s not OCD since other people/friends I know would probably do the exact same thing. Not sure if I’m making sense, but I guess my question is if that thought comes up with anyone else? Just being unsure if something you’re doing actually is ocd or not.

I FUCKING HATE THIS DISORDER - I figured out that my saliva hyperawareness is what triggered my mind to have the oral sex intrusive thoughts, and now my OCD is making me think it’s not an intrusive thought, my question is - can OCD do that? Can it take one of your intrusive thoughts and make you think it isn’t an intrusive thought after you’ve identified the trigger??

Question: There has been an OCD “what if thought” that is a question within a question if that makes sense? It’s been very hard and frustrating when it pops up. The compulsion is to look up the what if question online, and there is fear and worry with that. It has been such a headache and scary! Any suggestions? I have OCD.
