First thing don’t assume - it’s never helpful nor is it factual. I’ve assumed a lot in my life and most of it was wrong. Today’s age we are hyper sensitive to find out one sexuality with out even asking them. We try and find tidbits here and there to make a conclusion. A majority of society does this and it’s not helpful because it pushes men into social norms so that they don’t get perceived a sexuality they are not. Sexuality is really what gender they want to have romance with… what their hobbies are does not dictate their sexuality. A lot of people get this wrong so don’t think you’re a horrible person. Just know that we can always do better! As for this situation be clear and just say “hey I find you an interesting person and I would love to get to know you over a coffee date.” You are being clear with your intentions without questioning his sexuality. If he is gay he will bring that up. If he’s not gay then he will most likely say yes.

Like other comments have said, there's no way to determine what someone's sexuality is. And if you assume, what's gonna happen? Or if you're wrong, and he corrects you, what's going to happen? Anything could happen. Honestly, from my POV the worst case scenario, I'll embarrass myself and feel bad for several days or weeks, and then I'll move on. It'll be a funny story to tell.

@exhaustedhope. OCD throws us a lot of what ifs. We need to learn to quiet that part of the mind and acknowledge that thoughts are just thoughts. Some we can share and others we should keep quiet to ourselves. I get it’s hard. Some intrusive thoughts tell me to yell it out loud so everyone can hear. You just have to not react or get scared of that.
