ahh

hi. so i’ve been struggling with a schizophrenia/paranoia/psychosis theme this week. yesterday on accident i saw a scene from greys anatomy about a man with schizophrenia and he was saying “my mom was impregnated by an alien” and i was worried id get stuck on the thought which is exactly what happened. so now that thoughts in my head, and im like am i experiencing paranoia, am i schizophrenic, do i believe this thought to be true, i don’t know and i was trying to just relax and my mom was like im tired and my brain said “cause you’re alien pregnant” and now im really not sure if its an intrusive thought or paranoia and i dont get how to tell the difference and im really really struggling. someone please help

@kodyisland I started to get the fear of becoming schizophrenic and having intrusive thoughts that mimic, what I thought would be psychotic symptoms. ERP really helped, where I tried to maximise and induce them as much as possible, until it got boring and then my brain stopped doing it.

@Anonymous so i have a question then. last night i had one that was like “what if my parents aren’t my parents” which to me sounds like a paranoid thought right. was it stuff like that? i don’t think it’s that thought itself that’s giving me anxiety it’s more like ok why did i have that am i paranoid?

@kodyisland Yes I had every type of thought like that. Basically once I read the symptoms of psychotic disorders I began to experience all the thoughts I read about. Again ERP helped with this theme alot, since encouraging the thoughts really take away thier power.

@Anonymous During an exposure I would try to think of the most psychotic thought, and then when one would come I would think "come on os that it I can think crazier than that, I hope I have thoughts like this all the time they are fun" and doing that everyday stopped them from occurring.

@kodyisland Yeah that is where I would regularly check if I was hearing things. This gets replaced with thinking "yep, I'm probably hearing and seeing things, cool, I hope I get more of this" in ERP.

So, I am a 16yo girl suffering from bipolar and ocd. I'm getting better, 3 yrs of treatment more so for bipolar. I have experienced mild psychosis/paranoia that I'm sure was caused by my ocd and worsening bipolar. I get stuck with crazy irrational scary thoughts myself. It can feel like paranoia, bur it is a good sign if you are able to realize they are not rational. I feared I was a paranoid schizophrenic, truth be told most schizophrenics don't even know they are going crazy. There meds and therapy for ocd, you should seek help. OCD can ruminate in ur mind so much you feel like u are going crazy but aren't

@Prettygirlangelise i do have a therapist and we’ve been dealing with this theme for the last week. but i keep getting stuck on idk if this is paranoia or not

@kodyisland Same position,my thoughts tho have gotten better. There was times I was afraid to go to school or I imagined someone hurting me with a pencil. I believed I was paranoid too, but my therapist said it was intrusive thoughts and I knew they were unlikely to happen. I also believed some paranoia came from not that thought but the thought of thinking of it

I can’t figure it out

I have a bunch of real event/false memory and there is one that I remember I got in the middle of a horrible episode and I believed it was false but now I can’t remember why I thought it was false and now believe it could be real and it’s just bothering me so much because I want to remember the details to why I believed it was false in the first place and I’m just in a horrible spot and feel disgusting and am getting intrusive thoughts on my themes when I try to check if they are intrusive or not and I can’t function like i don’t wanna be around anyone because all I want to do is confess but I can’t because then I’ll obsess on confessing and they won’t understand.

Physcosis ocd??

Recently ive had ocd thoughts that are really weird and make no sense (they sound like thoughts that someone would have if they were in physcosis eg. What if trump can communicate with you through your head) like what??? Sometimes it feels like i believe it??? Which stresses me out and im constantly worried that im going through physcosis since i sort of belive it? I know deep down its ridiculous but it almost feels like i believe it?? Im scared. Like sometimes im calm with the thought. Im like oh okay maybe. Then sometimes my brain tries to imagine him like talking to me through my head??? Am i going through physcosis.??

HELP PLS I NEED ADVICE

Ii spoke w my bf this weekend and he mentioned that he has thoughts just like me, but his don't bother him like me. I then felt a lot better and he tried dissecting one of his thoughts like I usually do and realized it felt more real for him after. That made me realize that none of my thoughts were ever true and I blew them up. However, yesterday I had a thought ab “wait wut if you liked that one guy? How dare you bc youre supposed to love your bf and not secretly like someone else” and treated it as I usually did bc I accidentally wanted to see if it was true but didn't rlly but I would check to see if it was there and now that thought feels so so so real now and I feel really bad how do Ik it's not real? I feel so bad and guilty bc lividly this makes 0 sense but it feels so prominent. It felt pretty real when it happened yesterday too. And now I feel awful bc how is it possible after my clarity the other day? Why does it feel so prominent 😞😞😞
