Are you in online classes for college? How many classes are you taking and is it nearing the end of your semester? People think online classes are easy, but they really aren’t. In my opinion they can be more difficult due to there essentially being more of a workload and you have to teach yourself a lot. When taking online classes, you truly have to take things one step at a time. Keep track of all due dates for assignments, quizzes and exams in a planner, things can be updated as the semester goes on. As soon as instructors release the syllabus, I write down all due dates immediately in a planner, you can use Google calendar or something else. Next, see if there are any tutoring services available for your classes. Such as a TA for the class, through the library, an academic center, or hiring someone online. Most college instructors have office hours every week specifically for students to get help. Utilize those! YouTube is also useful for examples or help understand a topic. Thirdly, communication with your instructors is key. Both participation in class and through email. During class, it is always best to have your camera on and engage in class discussions. Ask any question you may have, even if you feel shy about asking something because 9 times out of 10, some else needed help with the same thing. Go to office hours. All of this shows professors you care and you’re trying, even if you are struggling with the content. Because at the end of the semester, the professors input your grades. Sometimes asking for extensions or to resubmit a reworked assignment can come from just engaging in the class. Lastly, online courses require a lot of self discipline and self motivation. Sticking to a schedule, not wasting too much time, keeping track of assignments, doing the work, and getting help when needed works wonders for any college classes. And it’s always better to submit SOMETHING than nothing. It’s a lot easier to bring up a C or D than F’s. Continually not submitting and assignments and becoming even more stress for yourself can make things more difficult. You also need to take care of both your mental and physical health. Eat healthy if you can for nourishment, stay hydrated, allow yourself to have fun or relax when you can, go for walks outside to get vitamin D and take a break during classes or homework, and get help from doctors/ therapist when you need it. Sincerely from someone who has taken online classes at both a community college and university!
