Pure OCD

I’m so devastated. I made an appointment through NOCD and they cancelled me. I have Medicaid and at first they said they took it but I got an email back saying they don’t. I offered to pay out of pocket because at this point I’m willing to pay the amount but they still rejected me. The place where I was supposed to find help and they turn me away and I’m drowning mentally. I feel so hurt and ignored. I finally reach out. Where else am I supposed to find a OCD specialist??

I'm so sorry this happened to you 😥 Please, please don't give up ❤️ I've been waiting a long time for proper help and haven't found it yet either. I would also drag them through the mud lol I'm so pissed off for you dude 🫂

@Jersey Jayne Hey, thanks for your comment.🫶🏻I was really angry and felt kinda betrayed at first but I have some resources I think I can use. NOCD is messy for that though 🥲

Hi I really recommend reaching out to the care team, I don’t think they can turn you away from therapy tbh. Each time I’ve contacted the care advocates they’ve been incredibly helpful and kind!

Mark Freeman on You Tube as excellent free mental health resources including OCD . TBH as far as NOCD and the billing and insurance aspects I find them very hit or miss, mostly miss , LOL !

Dont get sold on NOCD being the only service for ocd and other mental health disorders. They just advertise a lot. Im sure theres plenty of psychiatrists who understand ocd nowadays. Medicaid probably covers some psychiatrists in your area. Just check with your medicaid plan and see what psychiatrists are in your network and make an appointment with one of them.

@Ifiknewthen I emailed back and told them that I’m ok with them not taking I’m insurance and I asked if I could get the rates for out of pocket pay. She later responded and told me she cannot offer me those rates either. I’m literally trying to hand them my money and they didn’t give an explanation why they won’t still accept me. Not to mention they take so long just to reply.

@ssilent Maybe they just dont want to take the chance with patients paying out of pocket. You may pay them but the next person wont. A lot of these ocd subtypes you can study up on your own. Honestly i would just get with a psychiatrist and see how much they know about ocd. Plus medication management if necessary.

@ssilent I have an appointment next week with a psychiatrist. Im just gonna go through them. NOCD costs too much out of pocket.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I'm very shocked you were treated this way. Why not go on the International OCD Foundation website. They have a list of approved OCD specialists by geography, so you can see if there's one near you. They also have a site concerning low-cost treatment options: https://iocdf.org/low-cost-treatment-optioins-for-ocd/ Maybe between the two, you can find someone qualified who will work with you. Insurance

Can you please please please accept Medicaid soon. I feel I have no where else to go. I need help asap. I feel like I’m running out of options but I do my best to take care of myself day by day. But I’m so sick of my ocd and I really need to work with someone who understands and can help. I’ve been working so hard for so many years and still struggle….. please make this more available it’s so needed. The lack of accessibility to adequate services is really frustrating

I Tried.

NOCD doesn’t accept Medicaid in NC.. I feel helpless. I have nothing, no job.. no money that can afford this therapy and I really made myself vulnerable to the sweetest woman just listening to me cry about my OCD and how it effects my life.. Just to be told that I’m not able to be helped. This is probably why my parents pretended I didn’t have mental issues, we just couldn’t afford it. ..I can’t afford anything. Even my life.

Medicaid regulations causing a delay in care.

I was set up to have my first appointment. I realized it would have to be out of pocket. I can’t really afford this but my tax returns are inbound so that helps. I kept getting a prompt in the app to upload my insurance. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE MEDICAID. Now my appointment has been cancelled and I am not eligible to schedule one. There are no providers near me that specialize in OCD. I just got done bawling my eyes out. The relief I felt to finally be heard and understood and then to have that ripped from me is completely devastating. I feel so hopeless!
