@Anonymous813 ERP therapy with NOCD. it’s taken a couple of years but i’ve got there! still do struggle with OCD but it’s not controlling my life the way it used to pre ERP.

@Mary Hinchliffe Ok, that is fantastic. I still struggle because I am not patient enough. I want to stop this nightmare immediately.

@Mary Hinchliffe Would it be religious ocd to feel the need to pray and touch a picture of god repeatedly and also feel like giving into materialistic things (ignorance in my religion) could cause harm so I feel really anxious before doing things like listening to music

@Anonymous yes that’s definitely religious OCD by the sounds of it. if things are repetitive it’s likely OCD

I just tjought about something bad happening to my dad and then I felt the urge to go and touch the picture of God downstairs so I went and then when I came back up I had to go back down again and touch the wall next to it once for it to feel right 😭omg now that I'm typing it I feel like its definitely ocd. But I also don't get intrusive thoughts against my religion like other people do I just always pray which isn't always a sign of OCD? So I don't know

@Anonymous that’s definitely OCD because logically you know that you can’t prevent anything happening to your dad by touching a picture. and you say you ‘had to’ which shows a sense of urgency

It feels so good to have someone confirm it :) even when I'm about to go somewhere I keep taking my shoes off and touching a picture of God one more time and just now I had the urge to touch the picture of God again because I had a mantra in my head but I just touched the wall around it. Then i felt like making pancake but I couldn't because something hadwould happen now if anyone ate them as I had offended god?? Also i feel like listening to music, eating nice food etc are all materialistic pleasures which god says to detach from so I feel like the ignorance of doing it would directly cause me to get some sort of illness 😭😭which is also crazy. I'm really sorry for saying all of this I was just wondering if you had any idea how I can overcome this

@Mary Hinchliffe Also i keep making promises to god like if I get the compulsion to touch the picture downstairs I can promise not to do it and sometimes I'll accidentally promise random things like staying in 1 room for the next house and then I have to do it 😭😭

@Mary Hinchliffe Taylor Swift is my favourite artist but I feel like singing her songs or playing them out loud will cause something bad to happen because music is a materialistic pleasure which is ignorance in Hinduism
