ERP Therapy Predatory Pricing

Does anyone think ERP therapy costs are really unreasonable? I stopped NOCD because I had BDD concerns, too and now go to another Telehealth therapist who is $225 per session. TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!!! 😡 I got an email about NOCD going to $210 per 1 hour session. It was $170 when I did it, which was already ridiculous and I felt taken advantage of for sure. Am I the only one who thinks this is just ripping off people when they're down and suffering and desperate for help? Doesn't it seem predatory and exploitative? That is a lot of money . . . and I'm now about $8,500 into getting help for my ROCD and BDDBP. The way I see it, $80 a session would be unreasonably high but $225?!?! $210??!? It’s just Insulting and a scam, especially when people (like me) were suffering so much they couldn’t hold down a job and can already barely afford food and rent. Do you agree?

Honestly, no, I don’t think so though inflation isn’t helping and everything else is going up, and so are the prices of medical stuff because of higher item prices, all the money it takes for the courses/training/certificates, and there’s understaffing worldwide. The more niche you go for mental health needs, the fewer available professionals you’ll get. And the. They are overworked and must keep up with their licenses and certifications, so they’ll ask for more. And I’m sure backend app costs went up in some ways too. So there’s another added cost. I went into a lot of debt for my mental health needs in the beginning and I was in therapy from 4 years old up to graduating high school and my mom was paying out of pocket for half of that time. Does it suck? Absolutely. But it’s better than it getting worse in my opinion.

I agree, I think therapy is unbelievably expensive. I cannot afford it. So I resort to self-help and trying to heal myself. There is something that doesn’t sit right with me about profiting off being who are at their lowest point. But then I guess if there was no money in it, not many people would go for that career.

Affording Therapy

Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone has advice for affording NOCD therapy? I’m from the UK so cannot get this service on insurance and the therapy is costing me A LOT of money. I’ve contacted the billing team who have put me on a payment plan but this doesn’t make it any cheaper. They can’t do anything else for me to help so I’m stuck - I’m not in the right place to stop therapy but I also just cannot keep paying this money for it. Help!!

Ocd recovery/ Robert Bray. NOCD therapist pls read

When i was suffering the most I found a YouTube channel called OCD recovery and the guy named Robert bray was talking about how he was the only one who could cure your OCD and that normal therapy don’t get you truly recovered. He’s not even licensed but I was desperate and their YouTube had free content. They talk about how you have to accept worst case scenarios and dispute irrational beliefs. And use REBT and ERP I think. Robert also sells 1 on 1 sessions. And Skype group calls. The Skype group call costed 25$ something like that so I bought it for their real event/ false memory OCD themed group call. They talked about that if you accept your self even if you did a bad thing you will get over this OCD. I think it worked for a while but it then came back. I think this acceptance thing was just another compulsion and didn’t actually help. I then got invited to a WhatsApp group with them. I was in that group for a long time and my OCD was so bad and was so depressed. I was gonna book a 1 on 1 session with him for over 100 $ and then I saw on Reddit that people was saying he is a “cult leader” and that you shouldn’t listen too him. I then took time off from his videos and group chat. I got real ERP therapy and I’m much better. I feel like I need to make a text in the WhatsApp group chat warning people who’s in it to get out but I’m scared cause Robert has my number through WhatsApp and I don’t want him to blackmail me or something. What should I do. Should I just block everyone and leave. I feel so bad for the people in the group. They are probably scared of getting real ERP as they have been thought that ERP is not enough to recover from OCD. I think this is such a horrible thing to happen to someone with OCD. It should be more known so that people don’t get drawn in to his trap. Can a NOCD specialist comment on this and speak up about this cause I’ve never seen any other professional talk about this topic/ Robert Bray. I think it’s so messed up that he targets desperate people with OCD. Please correct me if I’m wrong about Robert Bray and his YouTube channel.

nocd taking money

if this app has helped y’all, i’m very happy! but for me this has been about nothing but money. my therapist only cares about money. the people that work nocd only want your money. i’ve been worse ever since starting therapy on here. if you can get different therapists, please do so. i would not recommend this. the fees are also ridiculous. just giving you a heads up! the community is sweet and loving, but everyone behind this is sketchy. be warned. they just took $150 after i finished my payments already!
