Medication for OCD
What medications are you all on or have been on? Experiences? Side effects? What has worked and what hasn’t?

Fluvoxamine and Hydroxyzine. Interesting thing I heard: Fluvoxamine studies with covid have shown it helps to lessen the illness. I had a high fever with the omicron variant. But not much other than a sinus congested that lasted a week or so. Maybe being on Fluvoxamine helped?
I doubt having the 2 doses of the Pfizer vaccine before getting covid did anything.
@Torture survivor Interesting! Thanks for the advice. Did you find that fluvoxamine worked well?
@Anonymous243 Fluvoxamine seems to work for me
@Torture survivor Im glad! Maybe it could work for me too.
@Torture survivor Omg I’m just starting this medication and idk why I find this kind of hilarious
@edelweiss Hilarious in what way?
@Torture survivor I just didn’t expect one of the side effects of my meds to be less covid symptoms 😭
@edelweiss I heard about it through doctor interviews on social media. You won't hear about it on corporate news. They were wrong about ivermectin and the FDA was sued and lost for pushing disinformation about it.
@edelweiss You probably haven't heard about that. Read this article.... https://www.biopharma-reporter.com/Article/2024/04/02/FDA-settles-ivermectin-lawsuit-removes-contentious-COVID-19-posts#:~:text=%E2%80%9CFDA%20loses%20its%20war%20on,plaintiffs%2C%20said%20in%20a%20statement.
@Torture survivor Interesting! Yeah I didn’t know about this.
Currently on Zoloft and loving it. Little bit of nausea at first with it, but i take it with food and that has helped. I was on Effexor before and it zapped my personality
@Anonymouslyhere I did not like the side effects of Effexor!
Tried Lexapro, Zoloft, and Effexor. Didn’t really notice a difference, besides Effexor where I had negative side effects. My psychiatrist hasn’t been the most creative to finding solutions and has opted to put me on more addictive meds. So, I’ve got a new psychiatrist, he seems cooler already just by our first meeting. I’ll let you know how it goes lol.
@edelweiss Good luck with your new psychiatrist! My old one sucked too lol. Ive also tried lexapro and zoloft and didnt see much different. Hope you can find one that works, don’t give up hope
Zoloft aka Sertaline. No side effects really. Just tired when I started it for a few weeks
@Emmnala Thank you for the comment!
Zoloft and recently added buspar
@Mamachels88 I hope it goes well! Thanks for comment
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?
I just got diagnosed with ocd and she suggested I think about taking lexapro for it. Has anybody tried that and does it help at all?
