Sleepless night

I’m having difficulty sleeping again. My left arm is hurting and I’m experiencing a slight headache. I can rationalize it out but it’s still keeping me up because I’m scared I will die in my sleep. (My arm hurts because of crocheting for hours on end and my headache is from sinuses) I shouldn’t be scared because I know I’ll go to Heaven. But it’s still keeping me up. I think about death then my son and husband and how they would be devastated. And keeps going… Any tips to help me sleep

my therapist taught me to say “i am only a simple human, i can control what i can” in a 🤷🏻‍♀️ tone of voice. it helps me to not focus on what’s out of my control but what is. so for example you could focus on something you can control like reading a book or taking a bath something relaxing. making a decision about something else that gives you a sense of control over anything i feel like it calms my mind. because ultimately most of these types of fears are about being out of control. i hope this helps a little and you have a good night!

I know it’s scary but the most helpful thing I’ve been taught to do is respond with “maybe.” While you have a thought about dying think “maybe I will. There’s nothing I can do about it.” Not giving my brain any certainty helps keep so much. Reminding myself that ultimately I can’t control things like that helps. If you’re going to die then you’re going to die whether you’re awake or not. Just tell yourself maybe you will and eventually that thought won’t be so scary.

@Chrisjewel Even when OCD changes themes just don’t seem reassurance and only feed your brain with “maybes.” I starve my ocd. It’s the only thing that helps. Like right now I came back to your post and saw where it said I responded yesterday. I totally remember responding but it seems like it’s been longer than just yesterday. I feel panicked a little but I’m just telling myself “maybe I am losing my mind.” Eventually my mind will move on lol.

I have work at 4am tomorrow and normally am asleep by 9 or 10 at the latest to be up by 2:30. But the thoughts are so bad I’m afraid of even closing my eyes and lately I’ve been going to bed at 6pm to fall asleep by midnight. I’m so over this. Any tips for falling asleep without getting bad thoughts. I keep picturing imperfect things or reliving every event that triggered me throughout the day. Last night I literally tried falling asleep without closing my eyes (which is impossible) then had to work today running on 3 hours of heavily interrupted sleep. I’m so exhausted and just over this.

Feeling Helpless

I literally cannot sleep in my room anymore! I just obsess over getting a kidney stone, or my appendix bursting cuz I have some stomach twinges. Oh, but wait, I might be having a brain aneurysm cuz I have had a headache since noon. Or maybe my gut burst and now I am having stomach pains because I have sepsis! Also, my mom had knee surgery so I, of course, am going to start having knee pain. Now, back to the stomach pains…… and on and on and on! I want to turn it off but it starts screaming in my head- over and over and over again while I try to sleep! What do I do?! I am making myself miserable!

I Don’t Sleep

One more question for y’all! I’m sure this is many of us, but I literally cannot sleep. If I do fall asleep, I maybe drift off for an hour or two. Then, I’m startled awake….intrusive thoughts running wild, heart racing….and then I lie awake the rest of the night. Just stuck in panic mode until the sun comes up. Then I have to start the day…already being in the rabbit hole for hours. I’ve tried every natural “remedy” nothing works. I’ve tried the pharmaceutical route…that also doesn’t work! Sleep has now become the enemy and I’d rather just stay awake all night. Does anyone have anything that helps them?? I’m desperate. The body/mind can’t heal without proper sleep. Also…and maybe folks can speak to this too. I’m back on my SSRI (3.5 weeks in) after being off for a few months (mistake). It’s torture waiting for the effects to kick in.
