Alright everyone. I need some tips. We are getting our bathroom remodeled and it is freaking me out, I’ve been in a state of depression and just dreading it since my germs will be carried throughout the house when all the old stuff (including the toilet) gets hauled away. I’ve been doing exposures and working on getting new meds, but I need some tips for getting through this. Thank you!

@Makingachange24 Which part has a problem? It happened after the new update. They said it will be solved in the next update. You can also email them and notify them.
@Anonymous - Sometimes after any update and addition of new options, some glitches occur, such as with NOCD. Now, if you go to the right of your main page and touch post options, any comments you wrote should go to the post you wrote comments for. They always worked, but now they don't work at all. NOCD said they will solve this in a new update. I mean, it happens in any app of this kind, and we should tell them to improve their app.

Practice mindfulness and breathing techniques and try not to focus on anything you see around yourself or in the bathroom. I know it is hard, but it will finish soon. Imagine everything is going to be new and beautiful. Focus on your breathing and don't overthink the details that are annoying you.

I am going through something similar and have contamination ocd. Can you please give me some tips on how you handled it? They are going to work on my bathroom as well as haul old stuff and dirty kitchen stuff.
Hi Everyone- I’m going to give myself 2 weeks to see if I can make progress battling contamination OCD using the tips and tools from people here. Some that I have found super helpful is sitting with the uncomfortable thoughts and letting them be vs doing the compulsions. I have major contamination issues with the public dirty bathroom feeling like it spread all over me. Any other tips on how to battle those thoughts? If I am unable to reduce 1.5 hour shower time I’m afraid I have to take my meds but I am avoiding it if I can try the “tools” first. I don’t have a therapist yet but my GP gave me my prescription. So if you have contamination tips and tools, please send them my way! For those who already sent your tips in the past, thanks so much! Lark
Hello everyone, I'm new here and have severe contamination ocd that has been happening the past four years since I was 20. I'm 24 now and it seems to be getting worse. I don't want to be around kids because I know they're germy little gremlins and carry the main thing I fear that caused my ocd to worsen. I shower whenever anything above my chest has been touched (neck, face, hair). I wash my clothes after one wear because they feel contaminated after the use. I refuse to let people touch my bed or clean clothes. If I hear that anyone in my family is sick I freak out intensely and have to stay away from them. I also shower if I've been in public and people were coughing near me. If I don't feel like showering and that my above triggers aren't contaminated I just wash my arms up to the elbow and go to sleep because I sleep in short sleeve shirts and my arms touch everything all day. I refuse to touch my face, neck or hair after touching my phone or anything else. I bring a travel blanket with me but have to wash it after every use. I use my shoe to open doors and press the cross walk button. If I can't use my shoe I use my pinkie and immediately handsanitize sometimes twice just to have my hands feel clean. I have to use a utensil to eat when in a restaurant and would ask to change it if I see it touch anything. I work at a place that requires me to use a phone so I have to shower and wash my ear. I hold my breath when walking past people. I can't sit back in the car or on the couch because it'll contaminate my neck and hair. I also have to do a double wash with my hands to feel clean. I used to do it for 20 seconds but I do the hand wash for 20 the 1st time then 30 for the second. I can't wear purses with straps that touch my shoulders, same with back packs. And I use so much soap and lotion that don't help keep my hands moisturized. And if I get triggered by anything I sit there in a quiet rage and ramble in my head because I know saying anything out loud will have me look crazy. There are times though that I get angry and close to tears when it feels like I've been contaminated and when my family makes fun of me for things I feel I have no control over especially the intrusive thoughts, emotions, anger, fear, and tiredness I feel on a daily basis. I'm scared of doing exposure therapy because I know they'll have me touch something contaminated and have me touch my face and not wash it how does that help it'll just make me angry.
Hello everyone, I’m knew to this app and I’m glad I came across this platform where it is a safe environment for us who deal with OCD. I have Contamination OCD and was wondering if anyone has any tips that has helped them. I change about 3x a day . 1.) I have clothes for my bed. 2.) I change out of my bed clothes into clothes that I can roam around my house in and sit down on couches , beds, or chair around my house. 3.) Clothes to get in my car I have a mountain of clothes by the end up the week and an expensive water bill because of it I also have a routine when entering my own bathroom which is so draining. Does anyone have tips ? Thanks for reading
