new fear
I have health concern ocd and my current obsession is rabies. I just opened my window to get some air and now I'm convinced there's a bat in my room that's gonna give me rabies... I checked my room and didn't find one but now I can't stop thinking about it and I can't fall asleep. I think I would be able to see it if it was in my room but...
i have a similar problem with bees nesting under my bed :( im sorry ur going through this i know it really sucks. but its helps to go over the logistics of the situation and a make maybe a checklist of things to do to remind urself (looking in center places were a bat could be)
I had a very similar fear a couple years back. I was constantly checking and ruminating, and it led to one of the most severe panic attacks I've ever had. Health OCD sucks ass and I really feel for you. I don't want to give reassurance since it doesn't really help, but just know you're not alone and that it's possible to move forward 🫶
I have extreme fear of rabies and it triggered my usually bearable ocd to the point i cant function normally. Whenever I pass by something on the ground resembling a bat my brain tells me its a bat and that I have touched it with my hand and that I have rabies now. Sometimes I take a photo of potential triggers to be sure I wont ruminate later aka ask myself what if it was this or that and i just look at the photo i took and be sure its nothing. The triggers are also becoming harder to bear everytime, for example 3 days ago it was night and I saw something small and dark on the ground and didnt see it clearly, phone was almost dead and i couldnt take a photo of it, probably wouldnt anyway because there were two people nearby so i just left myself a note in the phone that it was nothing and I didnt touch it, but you guessed it, my brain says its a bat and that i touched it, creating a false memory and now i feel like i cant know what actually happened..rn i cant think of anything but being terrified of dying of rabies because i cant trust my memory. I feel like Im going crazy
I recently saw a tiktok about rabies and now I can't stop thinking about it. I'm so scared a bat bit me and I didn't notice and now I have rabies. I haven't seen a bat in a long time and in my country there hasn't been a case since 2018. But I'm so scared what if I have it or what if I get it. What if I wake up tomorrow and I have hydrophobia(one of the symptoms). I can't stop thinking about this:(
I have no idea why but ever since I came across a video on rabies, I've been absolutely terrified of catching it. you can apparently go years without any symptoms and then once you start there's like no chance of survival. I've had no exposure or been bitten by anything mind you but I'm so scared that I've caught it or am going to catch it. I don't know why this fear suddenly came out of nowhere but I've been avoiding my pets because of it. Any ideas on how to get my head off of this?
