I have been feeling hard these few days, because a best friend deos not contact me because his mother doesn’t want him to be around me.. she knows about my ocd because at the beginning of my crisis I told close people my thoughts. I feel very angry and disappointed.
Its gonna be okay, I’m sure it must have been difficult to see how the friend listened to his mom so quickly and didn’t try to understand you more. I would be frustrated, and if they don’t want to get to know you more and stick by then it wasn’t meant to be. Some people are so judgmental about mental illness in general and think of it as a sensitive topic so they just avoid talk and people that are included. It’s totally normal to feel that way. I personally wouldn’t tell too many people about thoughts at least not in specific because people are not going to connect with it if they don’t have OCD, it might not be worth it and I feel like its the right choice to only tell people we need to about it to avoid further judgment from others, it’s just better to stay private sometimes. That’s just my opinion though, but definitely get what you mean. 💜
@Bondgirl#88 Yes, I understand your opinion and I stopped telling people, but I suffer because I have always to show my remaining friends and neighbors and relatives that I am ok while I feel awful and scared.. my ocd is related to trauma and recently I started therapy here, it’s tough going through this process without enough support.. though right now I think my parents are enough, and the community here is also a good place ❤️

This does sound painful but like the first comment everything will be okay. It’s hard to lose a friend but you need a friend that will be fully supportive/understanding when it comes to OCD/mental illness. I’m afraid to really open up about my ocd themes. I hear voices to top it off and thinking they can read my thoughts calling everyone I know about my intrusive thoughts so I kind of backed off some people. I just tell my husband and I finally opened up to my sister about some things.
OCD makes me feel so alone. These last few months I feel like I’ve been unable to be honest or open fully with anyone. I’m so ashamed of what’s inside me and I’m scared. I feel like everything is my fault and I’m lonely despite having wonderful people and things in my life. I am alone and feel so fake and disingenuous.
My sister told me today that my stepdad doesn't think I have OCD, or doubts that I do, since indont display any of the obvious, cliche OCD behaviors that he as seen or is aware of. (Such as obsessove over cleanliness, switching door locks, etc like what they show in movies). I wasn't aware he thought this, and had (about a year ago) told him and my mom about it all, when I was in therapy and getting diagnosed. I felt like they had been supportive and it was hard for me to tell them. Plus I already doubt it/myself enough. So I feel upset and angry and dejected realizing he felt this way and I didn't know it. And now I can feel it making me spiral into wondering "well, maybe he's right and I don't have it and I'm insane" etc. It's just tiring. 😔
I’m fairly new to treating my OCD and have felt crazy for most of my life. It didn’t help that no one in my life truly understood OCD and always said I was being dramatic. I very recently (within the past few months) finally got diagnosed with OCD and my whole life started to make sense. However, I recently opened up to someone I really believed I trusted about the intrusive thoughts I have and now feel worse than I ever have before. They essentially called me a psychopath and said they are worried for the people around me. Even though I would and could never hurt anyone. I’ve never felt more alone and broken in my life. I already try very hard to hide my OCD and everything associated with it because no one in my life understands so it’s been easier to deal with it myself than listen to everyone say whatever they have to say about my situation. After what happened today I’m even more inclined to just keep it to myself. I don’t know what I’m expecting from writing this but I figure this is the best place to write what I’m feeling. Going through OCD is hard enough on it’s own. But when people are telling you they think you’re a danger to society and are crazy because of your intrusive thoughts it really hurts. I’m just tired.
