I am a Christian and OCD is coming at me currently about my faith. I am not perfect and no one is. I get that but I keep getting the thought of “if you have sex outside of marriage again you’re going to hell, you will melt down and you’re going to be alone” I think I can just keep from doing it until I get married but I am 35 single mom of 2 and that could never happen or be forever so I start freaking out about that.
Remember that God is perfect, but we are not. God knows that you're trying to live a life committed to your beliefs, and that you're also trying to live your life in a way that brings you happiness. God doesn't want us to be perfect but he wants us to live our lives with thought and good intentions. From the way you speak of your beliefs, I imagine you are cautious to share that part of you, and likely reserve that part of you for someone you care a lot about. God understands, and as we are all part of God's plan, God knows our path in life even before we do. God is happy your beliefs mean so much to you, but God also wants to see you care for and be understanding to yourself.

@Mamachels88 I still think you're being hard on yourself. God loves you and God doesn't want to see you spend the precious time we have, saddled with worries of the past. God doesn't expect us to be perfect. God wants you to make the most of who you are. But if we feel we stray from God's wishes, God is there to forgive us. And will do so 7 x 70 times, if necessary. If you feel yourself drifting to thoughts of the past, try reminding yourself that God gave us this gift of life to live our lives in the moments we are here, not the moments that have passed. Be kind to yourself tonight and know that God loves you.
God knows we are not perfect. OCD tackles the things we fear the most. The thoughts like these we get , I like to view them as like spam emails or ads on tv. We get them anyway, but we can choose to ignore them or click on them. Many hugs to you! Be gracious to yourself.
I think this is likely your OCD but it could be difficult to navigate if you actually are or plan to have intercourse outside of marriage namely because the Holy Spirit does convict when we sin. You are 100% capable of abstinence and finding a godly man who will love and cherish you and your kiddos!
Does anyone else struggle with Christian OCD? I feel like I want to die right now. One of my core fears is the fear of my loved ones going to hell. It’s been my son for a while now because he started expressing fear he was going to go to hell and (unfortunately he appears to have religious OCD as well at even nine years old) it had gotten to a point he had felt he was unsaveable and getting angry at God. I realized that my fears of a false conversion were pushing him away/confusing him to the point I was hindering him coming to Christ. Only, I am afraid that I forced it on him now because he has asked for so long if he was ready and my husband took him to the altar. Not surprisingly he still doubts himself - he’s confused and I feel even WORSE than I did when he wasn’t “saved.” I fear if I try to reassure him and he isn’t saved that it will be my fault he goes to hell. I have barely slept since this happened Tuesday. I’m ready to die and all my therapy has completely gone out the window. I am just so depressed it’s hard to even look at my baby and not cry. *Please don’t respond if you’re not a Christian. I respect your opinions, but please respect mine.*
hi guys it’s been awhile since i’ve been on here but right now i’m starting to get really scared i’m scared to go to hell because i swear, have intrusive thoughts and compulsions (obviously) and i look at and do s*xually immoral acts i am a catholic person and i’ve always stood by the notion that if i act with good intentions then there is no issue, but my mum was talking about her fear of going to hell (her ocd subtypes are about this) and now i feel guilty when i sin, even tho i only want peace in the world i go to reddit and look at some answers for this stuff (i have a really bad compulsion of searching questions on google for hours) and they mostly say i will go to hell if i sin i also get really depressed then question god’s existence and then wonder why i should be alive and stuff and then i’m guilty later i really don’t want this to become a major subtype. i have health ocd but it’s calmed down since i’ve been diagnosed with a health condition (for some reason??) can someone, christian or not, please respond with their experience with this subtype or anyone with advice at all?
I am a Catholic Christian, and something that has been stressing me out today is the topic of the Final Judgement. One of my OCD fears is cheating on my boyfriend and now I’m having crazy thoughts like “what if I cheated on him, and then on judgement day God judges me for it, and then me and him are eternally separated?”. I’m also really afraid to get married (the fear comes and goes) because I am afraid I will let my OCD sabotage it. I’m afraid I’ll let the shame and guilt get to me and I’ll confess to things I did not do. Ugh. Does any of this make sense?
