Can someone with pocd help
?
?
Pocd is just the same as any other theme. So don’t worry about it!
Can i ask if i had a scenario in my head abt someone else being a p and doing smt i dont think i had explicit images while thinking it but idk, anyway i had a scenario where he got outed and i kept imagining it,idk if i imagined him doing anything inapropriate or what but im scared i fantasized abt it
@Anonymous Don’t worry about it. OCD gives intrusive thoughts. None of them mean anything. None of them. Your best bet is to practice ERP therapy. Have you tried it before?
@Tea and Honey But i kept willingly thinking about it,and im waiting on a doctors apointment for a daignosis
@Anonymous It’s just OCD. So don’t worry. Is the doctor trained in OCD? The best help you can get are people trained in ERP therapy. That is the most effective. If they don’t know about it, you might want to change to sometime who does.
@Tea and Honey Im not 100% sure,i think im waiting on a referal to a therapist but im not sure
@Anonymous Some therapists are better than others. Some can actually be damaging to you. Not everyone understands OCD. If they don’t understand OCD, they are not going to understand POCD (which is just a subtype). I am not telling you what to do. You should do whatever you think is best. Just keep in mind that having a therapist who is trained in OCD is important. They also need to be trained in ERP therapy. It is life-changing. If the current people don’t work, you could always try NOCD. They are trained, and the meetings are over Zoom. It’s easy to join. I have done it twice. The lessons on ERP are life changing. Some people who are house-bound get a lot of their lives back with ERP. But you can find trained therapists in other places too
@Tea and Honey Hopefully i find the right one.what disturbs me is that i purposly thought of the scenario and continued it.
@Anonymous Don’t worry about it. That’s something else you practice in therapy. You learn that you can’t “figure out” the thoughts to see if they mean anything or not. The answer is that they never mean anything. And you can’t try to figure them out because doing that just puts you in an endless loop. I’ll try to post a video for you below
@Tea and Honey https://youtu.be/V8GH9074joI?si=QHUElNSlT7R9X9Cc
@Tea and Honey Appretiate it sm!! Ill try watch the video tomorrow but tysm fkr everything
@Tea and Honey A,so even if i willingly thought it diesnt mean anything?
@Anonymous Yep. OCD thoughts don’t mean anything. Whenever your brain says “I have to figure out if that thought was OCD or if that thought was me,” DON’T TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT!! If your brain says, “I need to know if I thought that on purpose (willingly) it not,” DON’T TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT!!!! (That is what the video talks about also.) There is nothing to figure out. The answer is ALWAYS THE SAME. It is always OCD. So no matter what you think about, it doesn’t matter. If you think you were willing or not, it doesn’t matter. None of those thoughts matter.
@Tea and Honey There is an answer for all your questions out there. There is LOTS of good help for OCD these days. Lots of good YouTube videos, and lots of good therapists. You can get answers and tools to overcome!! It takes time—but if you implement the tools, you can conquer the OCD. The important thing is that you have to go to therapists who know what they are doing. Some therapists who are not trained in OCD and ERP can make things worse. But if you go to someone who is good, you should have lots of improvement in your OCD journey.
@Tea and Honey I know 100% i thought the scenario on purpose so ik thats not an ocd thought,ik its still weird that i continued the thought and i thought abt the stuff he does, but i still feel like i fatasized over it
@Anonymous Even if you did, it doesn’t matter. It’s just a thought. And thoughts don’t matter. So don’t worry about it. Just go forward with therapy and learning tools and putting them into practice:):):)
@Tea and Honey Can u maybe have a look at my other post and tell me what u think? Some r 18+ but if u cant its fine
@Anonymous I can try to find it. But the answer is always the SAME. Our thoughts don’t matter. My therapist explained it to me like this. OCD wants to pull us down the rabbit hole in a spiral 🌀 that gets worse and worse. It wants to say that you are a terrible person, that your life is over, that your worst fears are going to come true, etc. etc. But we need to try not to get pulled down the rabbit hole. In order to do that, you have to DECIDE that the answer is always the same, no matter what tactic the OCD tries to throw at you. The example, the OCD says, “Yeah, some of your thoughts don’t matter, but if you think them ON PURPOSE, then they matter.” The answer is “no” because YOUR THOUGHTS DON’T MATTER. The OCD will try to say, “But you actually wanted that thought this time. This means the thought is from me and not my OCD.” The answer is YOUR THOUGHTS DON’T MATTER. You may not really believe that your thoughts don’t matter. That’s okay if you feel UNCERTAIN about it. OCD is all about taking steps forward when you feel uncertain. The important thing is that you DECIDE that your thoughts don’t matter. And once you decide that, make it unchangeable. You always put that decision into play EVERY TIME, even though you are going to doubt your decision and be afraid it’s wrong. It’s an immovable decision. You follow it every time.
@Tea and Honey One more question.2 months ago i was attracted to people older or my age which always comforted me.now its only younger people i find attractive.
@Anonymous I can’t find the post. Don’t worry about it. It doesn’t matter. Remember, the answer is always the same. YOUR THOUGHTS DON’T MATTER. :):)
@Tea and Honey So it could be ocd.i just cant find them attractive anymore
@Anonymous It’s all OCD. Don’t try to figure out if the thoughts belong to you or to the OCD. It all doesn’t matter because your thoughts don’t matter. We can’t try to figure it all out. The answer is always the same. Your thoughts don’t matter.
