I’m terrified of the dentist but have to go because my tooth is broken off in a spot and I’ve been in pain for a week. I’m worried about bleeding to death or pain or freaking out cause I feel scared of something. My appointment is tomorrow morning.
It will hurt. You will be in the hands of someone who has done this many, many times as their job. People don't bleed out at the dentist so you're chances are almost non-existent. Your dread WILL challenge you. Like right now. I am so sorry you're suffering!!!!
@SurvivingToThrive I hurt right now and am sure I can handle the pain but just worry about bleeding and dying. I know it’s in my mind but the scariness and anxiety are real. They don’t? That’s good! I am seriously feeling challenged so much I wanna cancel my appointment but want the pain to leave me alone as well.
Don't worry 🥲🫂 are just thoughts nothing bad is going to happen believe me 🥹

The worst part about me going to the dentist after yearssssssssss of avoiding it was: the anticipation. The best part of me going: actually being there and seeing it wasn’t that bad, and walking out relieved and empowered that I did it! I was SO initially convinced of how screwed I would be when I go, very seriously convinced, and dentist said she was actually impressed that the problem wasn’t as bad as I’d worried. I also told her before the session that I have terrible anxiety, and it really allowed her to know how best to work with me! PROUD OF YOU FOR GOING! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Also you can reframe your appt as an AWESOME thing bc it can relieve you from your pain, anxiety, crying, while also being great ERP! See the appt as a ticket out from your distress.
@FJustRightOCD Also sometimes it takes some bleeding at the dentist office for healing to happen. Like when someone starts flossing for the first time in a long time, and there’s blood, it’s okay it’s the first step in getting better. Dentists are trained in how to deal with blood, and panic, (they see a lot of both), so you will be in the right place to allow yourself to feel the fears and work through them instead of avoid your appt which will only prolong your mental and physical pain and suffering
I got a therapist appointment in about a week and I'm scared I will get misunderstood, or I feel like Im not telling enough details, I'm scared that I have something else. This week alone was so draining
About the beginning to middle of February I went into the doctor and requested to see a counselor. I’m starting to see a counselor about anxiety in a few days and I’m extremely nervous. I’m nervous my counselor is going to say I have to break up with my bf otherwise I’ll be stuck with ocd for the rest of my life. I’m nervous my counselor is going to think I’m crazy and not know anything about ocd. I’m nervous my counselor is going to tell my aunt how crazy and messed up I am because my aunt works in the clinic I’m going to therapy at, and if she tells my aunt everyone in my family may find out. I’m nervous I’m going to hell because I’m going to counseling and not fully leaning on God instead to fix it all for me. I’m nervous I’m a bad Christian for going to therapy and not believing Jesus is going to fix it all. I’m nervous that my future is ruined because of my mental health. I’m worried that my boyfriend is going to break up with me because I’m too much to handle and too anxious. I’m just scared for my future because of my ocd and because I am not as passionate about my faith as I used to be so I feel like I’m gonna go to hell for that or like my sister is going to die because of her seizures because of my ocd. Idk I’m so scared.
my appointment with the psychiatrist is months away and still need to confirm everything but after talking with my therapist last night I just feel even more scared. Like scared I'm not going to provide enough info and then she'll tell me that nothing is wrong then all of this is for nothing. Of course, id love for there to be nothing wrong with me and to feel none of these things that have been bothering for so long. But the fear of being told that there isn't when its causing so much worry... it's making me really anxious. But it also makes me feel guilty because I feel like I'm just looking for attention or making something out of nothing. Even though I know very well it isn't nothing. I know that people sometimes take years or even decades to get help or get a diagnosis that actually fits what they've experiencing and im scared of that too.
