Birth control and ocd

I’ve never been on birth control but I’m thinking that I might soon. I’m a little worried because I’m not sure how it’s going to affect my ocd and my hormones. I also get depressed so I’m worried it will affect this too. Can anyone share their experiences on birth control and how it’s affected both their ocd and non-ocd parts of their lives? Right now I’m leaning towards the implant so any advice on that would also be helpful. Thank you ❤️

it's really different for everyone, some people feel really good and for some people it's not good for them. you can get the copper implant which has no hormones, but that's completely up to you and if you're fine with the side effects. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but I felt pretty okay on the pill, my emotions were not really impacted and I still experienced my normal depression. mine was low dose and I was only it for around 3/4 months, so it just depends on the person.

My therapist recently suggested beginning medication for my GAD/OCD. I am curious and open to the idea, but I think I’m more concerned about what will happen to me negatively. I have this thought that I have no ‘self’, and if I were to take medication, I feel that I’m going to change drastically. Can anyone speak to how medication has impacted them? I don’t know anyone who has used medication (that I know of) and this is the once place I feel comfortable asking for stories. Thank you.

Medication, fertility and pregnancy

I have been medicated for OCD since I was 7. Now I am 29 and my husband and I are wanting to have kids soon. I am worried about how being on medication that long will affect my fertility. I am also worried about if I will be able to get off of my medication while pregnant. I think I need to be medicated for my mental health but I am terrified at what the medication could do to my baby. All the Drs I have talked to say it’s fine but honestly I don’t trust them. I have been reading medial articles and studies that say that the medication I am on (Lexapro) can cause harm to my fertility and to an unborn baby. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Be honest

If you are on medication or have taken it for OCD and anxiety. Please give me your full and honest opinion about it. How did it benefit you ? What were the okie and negatives/ you’re overall experience? I’m seriously thinking about it but I want as much information before, so I make the best decision. And also what medication you take
