Itās like living with a domestic abuser in your head, constantly questioning whether you did one thing or another, and regardless of what course of action you choose, youāre damned if you do, damned if you donāt, will berate you if you canāt remember, and will be upset if you socialize and arenāt isolated. Brain traffic, and you can only control the one thought you drive. You'll always on a journey, just make sure you're in the thought that's heading in the direction you want. The others are our of your control so don't get mad at them. Let them beep, let them swear, let them crash, let them be, and let them go.

@Nikki232 I used to feel the exact same way, and sometimes I still do. But the thoughts quiet down eventually, trust me. Last year, I had severe OCD and could hardly do anything without feeling extreme anxiety about contamination, and I was ready to give up trying to help myself. Even though I do still struggle, OCD doesn't control my life anymore. You will be able to live the life you want if you just keep going, I promise. ā¤ļø

I donāt know how to explain this so Iāll do it to the best of my ability. Does anyone experience āco-intrusiveā thoughts that try to negatively support the initial intrusive thought? Example: Me: āThank God I never acted on (scary intrusive thought) & Iām getting better!ā Intrusive thought: āWhat a shame you didnātā These types of things send me into a spiral. It makes me think that it could lead to a desire instead of staying a fear. Like an intrusive disappointment that I didnāt follow through with the thought? Itās been a long fear/obsession & I think my OCD is trying to trick me that the only satisfaction would be to act on the thought. (I know thatās bs) But IS that why it sends me the negative co-intrusive thoughts? Thatās the only explanation that makes sense. Then I wonder is it something else? Am I a grenade waiting to explode??? I simply cannot relax in any moment because I think whatās the use if Iām just going to (xyz) one day?

for me, it's like there's two folders of my thoughts, 'main thoughts' and 'sub thoughts' and it's like a background voice of my background voice, you know? like so quiet and irrelevant but it's still here and i can try to ignore it but not fully and it feels like it's just really nasty, like it's warring with me, never shuts up and just keeps nagging me with those thoughts

Please how can an intrusive thought be distinguished from our own thoughts ?
