Has anyone had saris make there OCD worse then before they started them. I've always noticed a mental increase when taking ssri or ssnri. But that's the medicine for OCD and anxiety since most doctors dont like benzo and for good reason but still.
A benzo brand switch caused my OCD. I never had unhealthy OCD up until a month ago. In answer to your question I took Zoloft for about a month and it's set my OCD on fire.
I have the same issue every time I try a ssri it doesn't seem to help but make the anxiety and OCD faster. Most doctors cant understand this because they are just trying to follow the recommend treatment plan
Check out GeneSight testing (www.genesight.com) It helped me greatly with finding the medication that would work right for me based on my DNA. I've only taken one SSRI based on the results and it has proven successful. My psychiatrist ordered it for me, and even though my insurance didn't cover it, I paid $0 based on my household size and income. The most it will cost out of pocket is $300, according to GeneSight, if they do not accept your insurance.
I have done the gensight before but I have no way to get those records and the provider who did it for me is at a different location. But I did gene sight and I did try a lot of the meds on the list but nothing really helped.
@Chill dude Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that 🙁 SSRIs are complicated - so many brands and they all affect everyone differently. Plus, you never know what's going to work unless you stay on it long enough to find out (i.e. about 6 months to a year). It's a long journey finding "the right" medication. I feel badly it's been rough for you, and I'm hopeful you find one that hits the spot 🤞
@Suzeme You just helped me. I looked into the gensight thing again and I requested my report. I'm going to look at it and make sure I'm not missing something.
@Chill dude That's great you were able to request your report 🙌 I low-key hope you missed something, and maybe it'll bring you some insight into what med may or may not have been helpful. If you have a psychiatrist now, you should share the report with them. Perhaps they could give you even more insight with a list in front of them? I'm curious to know how it turns out for you! 💚
@Suzeme Yea I plan on giving it to him so we can see where I stand. I've been on this journey for the better part of ten years. Been a long road unfortunately. But this year I have changed a lot been through 9 years of therapy. OCD is very crippling but it can be beat.
I had a benzo brand that worked like a dream for 7 years at just 0.5 mg. When I interrupted the brand it was like taking a different drug and now I can't sleep at night and I have OCD and more problems. I don't know if taking clonazepam will help you but if you do go down that road if you ever have to stop it can be very difficult.
I have taken all the benzos. The one I will never take again is volume. Clonozapam is the best one and yes I do have some from taking it in the past. I use it sparingly as my doctor thinks it will become to addicting. I never had problems quiting benzos. I hear you can have seizures from stoping but I never have used take Ativan 3-4 times a day for years. Never helped my OCD though.

I feel like my ocd has gone much worse with medication. I feel more anxious when I was not medicated and it makes me feel tired.
I’m Farley new to being diagnosed wirh Ocd my entire life I was called a hypochondriac because I was always obsessing thinking I had all these things wrong w me , eventually after I had my daughter turned into obsessing of her health when I finally knew something was wrong was when I became obsessed with “kill your daughter “ sentence in my head over and over again crying scared , eventually got help been on meds for a year low dosage recently it just came back because I’ve been stressed out and got triggered my doctor increased my medication did anyone else notice more anxiety when increasing your ssri for the first couple weeks? 😭
