Hi everyone. I’ve been on Zoloft for a couple of years now. Overall a very good experience. My Doc slowly worked me up to 150mg, but lately (past couple weeks) seems like my OCD has been stronger which is also triggering depression. OCD + Very low energy, easily annoyed/angered, etc. Any positive/relatable experiences out there with increasing above 150mg? Thanks in advance!
Of course, everyone is different, but Zoloft saved my daughter's life. OCD was destroying her, but it took an "off label" dose of 300 mg for her. She has been on a maintenance dose of 100 mg for many years now and is doing great.
I am in the same boat as your daughter used to be. When I am not on Zoloft, OCD completely ruins my life. I have been on Zoloft 200mg for a year and 9 months. While it gave me my life back, there is still this little part reserved for ocd left in me and the strong feeling that increasing the dosage over 200mg would make me feel perfect My psychiatrist refuses to do it due to the possibility of the serotonin syndrome. He prescribed an antipsychotic medication instead as addition to Zoloft since it doesn't increase serotonin. He said it's what is prescribed to people with ocd if Zoloft alone isn't just enough. I am super reluctant to start taking it. It kills Dopamin. The very common side effects are those I have been fighting for over a year with medication (Diabetes 2, High blood pressure,..) and I will do nothing to worsen it. How did your daughter's doctor control her serotonin levels and made sure she doesn't get the serotonin syndrome? I feel betrayed and mistreated because I have been suffering from ocd for 38 years and he is denying me the chance to live in total control of my life and feeling genuinely well and happy. I know my body. I am sure just a little increase in dosage would make it for me. I feel muuuch better on 200mg then I did on any lower dosage. Sadly there is no other doctor psychiatrist nearby. He is the mentor to the only other psychiatrist there is. I am stuck with him. And it makes me feel really bad. Since my mental well-being is in his hands, this is all I can expect out of my life. I had to stop taking Zoloft because it gave me bad thoughts and set my OCD on fire. Everyone is different but that drug was very bad for me.
I was at 200mg for a couple years but now down to 75mg. OCD is similar levels but I have way more energy and more emotionally available. The higher Zoloft wax causing too much fatigue for me and numbness — which I didn’t realize how bad either was till I dropped dosage.
I’ve tried both Prozac and Zuloft to help treat my OCD and neither has worked. I was on 80mg of Prozac and now 150mg of Zuloft but have felt little to no difference. Is there a better medication anyone can suggest? Thanks
I've been taking 50 mg of fluvoxamine for almost 3 weeks. The doctor said I need at least 200 mg for OCD, so I will gradually increase the dose. This is not my first time on SSRIs. I was on citalopram for almost 2 years because of a depressive episode, it worked well but I remember it made me feel tired all the time. That's why I'm scared to take a higher dose of fluvoxamine. Has anyone ever taken fluvoxamine? Can you tell me your experience with it? I'd really appreciate it.
Four months ago, I began taking 25mg of Zoloft, and my dosage has since been increased to 100mg. This increase has significantly alleviated the anxiety and heart palpitations caused by my OCD. However, it hasn't been as effective in treating my depression. Alongside medication, I'm currently undergoing ERP therapy. Given the mixed results, I'm considering either switching medications or augmenting my current regimen. I have a consultation with my doctor tomorrow to explore my options. I've heard from others that finding the right combination of medications can make a huge difference. Does anyone have experience with a multi-medication approach that has been beneficial for them?
