Hey, I’m here to ask if anyone is comfortable with sharing, how has medication helped with OCD? How does the medication make you feel / does it make you feel disconnected in any kind of way? Or has it improved your life significantly? Thanks!
It has improved my life significantly ☺️ I was terrified to take meds because of my OCD...but after a couple of tries, I was more afraid of taking another "deep dive" and being pulled under by my symptoms that I finally committed to taking it. The medication didn't cure my symptoms of OCD and depression, but rather made it manageable to learn and apply the skills to cope with them. There are days when I still struggle, however, I'm able to get through it. Another thing that helped in figuring out what meds would work best for me was GeneSight testing. Google it, it's worth a shot 💚
I am currently prescribed 80mg Prozac, which I understand is the typical recommended dose for OCD. This was after trying Lexapro, which didn’t work for me. I can say the Prozac has helped immensely, in combination with ERP. There is a bit of emotional blunting (I don’t cry during emotional commercials anymore) and some sexual side effects, but by-and-large using medication has greatly improved my quality of life. I’ve felt like myself again after ~6 months of obsessional worry. It may take some experimentation to find what works for you, but the combination of therapy and medicine seems to do the trick for a lot of people.
I’m on and off with my OCD. It feels all too real at times, and nonexistent at others. I’m heavily considering going medication as i feel it may be what I need to breakthrough this spell. What is your alls experiences with meds and what did you take? Please share all the good, bad and in-between!

Just curious I’ve been doing so good with my ERP and I’m like 80% better but POCD seems to have a huge grip on me still. And while I’m not so afraid anymore my mind still loves to obsess about it and give me feelings (my ocd is very very feelings based) and wants me to think about the obsession.it’s mostly just annoying and tiring. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist to just have a convo about meds that could help with depression and OCD. Has anyone gone through this? And what does the medication for you? (I know everyone is different) does it stop your brain from obsessing so much? 🖤
