1. With every negative thought I am aware of, try to think of the opposite, positive version. Ex, Iām going to fall down the stairs, horribly injured myself, and my life will be forever ruined <-/+> Iām going to walk down the stairs with strength and poise and have a wonderful day and life with the same grace. Even if you donāt believe it, practice the possibility of having different thoughts. 2. Morning journaling following the Artists Way method 3. Listening to positive music and not indulging in negative music or content, including signing out of social media for a while. 4. Ask positive people you admire what helps them stay positive. Youāll learn everyone has their own tricks of curating good thoughts and that itās a constant process for anyone to practice positive mindsets. 5. If I find myself experiencing an exposure, trying to be aware that Iāve entered an emotional reaction to something that hasnāt happened yet, and try to soothe myself by observing and asking myself, ādoes this warrant this much emotional stress?ā if yes, feel it, practice tapping, journaling, exercising, or breathwork. if not, feel it and try to shift your perspective of the situation: ask, if you werenāt controlled by OCD in the situation, how would you ideally handle it? how would someone you admire handle it? breath, try to embody your hero. 6. HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK, canāt stress this one enough. Find a studio or classes online to be guided on this incredible, life changing practice. 7. Jarrows Formula MagMind magnesium 8. Abraham Hicks 2005 Orlando Florida Lectures. itās on YouTube, I cannot stress enoughāgo listen. 9. Genomind genetic test for anxiety/depression medication to find the best suited treatment for your genetic makeup. After years of working myself, chemically i couldnt completely control my anxiety and after using Genomind, i was able to find the exact medication compatible for me. Iām on Cymbalta and itās completely changed my life. Paired with everything listed above, if you practice these you can get the life you deserve. 10. Whether you believe in the universe or God or nothing, trusting that you are protected and there are invisible sources of love protecting you, practice trusting that and that you are safe and will be safe. stay away from negativity. name your OCD and recognize when itās in the drivers seat and that itās not allowed to anymore. fight back with love to yourself. i hope this helps you ā¤ļø

@Anonymous First off I read this book by Jonathan Grayson so the response prevention statements I have are quite out there because of that book. They work for me. Caution: below might trigger you. The statements in response to the thoughts are imo insane and they work. Idk your theme & don't need to. It could be SOCD, POCD, harm, you said " i get stuck on a theme that doesnāt make sense to me. But I canāt get over it. I hate it so much." So try not to have it make sense. It could be any version of " oh, hello lovely thought that makes no fucking sense and tells me lots of lies. Well That's OK. I might never be able to get over this thought. Maybe this thought will be with me forever, I don't know, right now, I'm not going to let this thought control me, so I'm going to go watch TV, or do what I was going to do BEFORE I had this lovely thought. Actually I hope this thought NEVER leaves. I love this thought so much, I'm so glad I have this thought. Oh, I'm going to lose my entire life and my wife, fantastic. That's great! Oh, it would be the end of me? That even better, I'm so happy I'm having this lovely thought. Really take it far. Say stupid shit that's the opposite of what you want. I won't lie, it's hard as hell, however for me it works the more insane I go. It's anxiety inducing however it shortens my loops or stops them entirely. I personally say these things outlook if I can. It helps for some reason. Hope it makes sense.
- Date posted
- 29w ago
@Anonymous It makes total sense. Iāve been on medication for a few weeks now and the anxiety is low. Sometimes I get no anxiety. And that scares me that this must mean itās true. My theme thatās been the hardest is HOCD. Iāll try what youāre saying. Thank you for all the help.

@Anonymous My meds helped me too. Wow your ocd is trying to sneak in by not giving you anxiety. Tricky little ocd yours is, taking the . "Oh I'm not going to give any anxiety because it's secretly true" route. Remember ocd lies, so maybe you could agree with your ocd. Yup, I'm gay. I love men etc. That could be really hard, I find the more out there I go the easier it's for me to do. Good luck. Remember ocd lies.

Looking back, I realize Iāve had OCD since I was 7. though I wasnāt diagnosed until I was 30. As a kid, I was consumed by fears I couldnāt explain: "What if God isnāt real? What happens when we die? How do I know Iām real?" These existential thoughts terrified me, and while everyone has them from time to time, I felt like they were consuming my life. By 12, I was having daily panic attacks about death and war, feeling untethered from reality as depersonalization and derealization set in. At 15, I turned to drinking, spending the next 15 years drunk, trying to escape my mind. I hated myself, struggled with my body, and my intrusive thoughts. Sobriety forced me to face it all head-on. In May 2022, I finally learned I had OCD. I remember the exact date: May 10th. Reading about it, I thought, "Oh my God, this is it. This explains everything." My main themes were existential OCD and self-harm intrusive thoughts. The self-harm fears were the hardest: "What if I kill myself? What if I lose control?" These thoughts terrified me because I didnāt want to die. ERP changed everything. At first, I thought, "You want me to confront my worst fears? Are you kidding me?" But ERP is gradual and done at your pace. My therapist taught me to lean into uncertainty instead of fighting it. Sheād say, "Maybe youāll kill yourselfāwho knows?" At first, it felt scary, but for OCD, it was freeing. Slowly, I realized my thoughts were just thoughts. ERP gave me my life back. Iām working again, Iām sober, and for the first time, I can imagine a future. If youāre scared to try ERP, I get it. But if youāre already living in fear, why not try a set of tools that can give you hope?
