My psych just upped my Prozac about a week ago… having some wild side effects. I responded to it really well at a lower dose, so I’m hopeful it will get better! Have any of yall experienced side effects like increased intrusive thoughts, but less emotional responses? General muscle weakness and just feeling bleh? How long did that last for you?
Perhaps ask your doctor their opinion on receiving a prescription for a DNA mouth swab test that can check for medication compatibility and adverse drug interactions based on your specific genetic makeup. Some doctors do write prescriptions for this type of testing.
It typically is not wise to try to compare meds. Everyone is different. I took prozac in the past and had no side effects what so ever, some people has intolerable side effects and have to try something else. If you try to get advise from others, you might place unrealistic expectations for your own progress which can make you stop a medication too soon and stick out the wrong medication for too long so the best advice I can give is give yourself time. Side effects do typically flare when you increase a dose and it can take a couple weeks for your body to normalize again. Keep in touch with your Dr. they are the only people you really should be taking medical advice from. Best wishes, I hope its your magic pill in the end!
When I was on a lower dose of Prozac I tolerated it pretty well but once my psychiatrist upped my dose, I was having the same side effects. It lasted about 2 months and I got to the point where I felt so numb to emotions which is far from how I usually am. I ended up getting weaned off of that and am now trying buspirone!
Hello, anyone have experience with Prozac? I’m on 20 right now, was started on 10 initially, very uncomfortable and anxious. I know I’ll need to up it but also need to give it some time, only been on it a few weeks. Anyone find that it really helped them and at what dose seemed to be best. My ocd is intrusive/ distressing thoughts. Thank you
Hello I've been on fluoxetine for 3 weeks now The first two weeks my intrusive thoughts got much much worse Almost to an unbearable point Now I feel restless legs and hands Also my sleep hasn't been so bad since I've been taking alprazolam but still I wake up some times at night I'm taking 40 mg a day Should I be worried?? I was reading about some real crazy side effects and bad stuff that just made me fell worse And right now I'm not sure I'm really in danger or it's just my ocd attacking me I don't wanna develop akathisia And I've been feeling some uneasiness in my limbs but not to that point I think
In a great place with my OCD but had some lingering anxiety I couldn’t shake. Just started taking Prozac and am curious if anyone has taken it and what their experience has been. Currently I’m on day 3 and feeling tons of energy and am happy but not sure if that’s normal / will last.
