Carnivore diet, specifically steak and fish work wonders. For me, at least. I know it has helped many people with anxiety, depression, OCD, even bipolar and schizophrenia. Some people get off their meds. As long as they stick to the diet. Good luck!
Have you tried traditional meds in the past? Do you do other therapy as well?
@Anonymousman I am on traditional meds, anti-anxiety and low-dose antidepressant. But when I eat clean and add more meat, and by eating clean I mean nothing processed, I notice I donāt need as much medication. I have successfully and unknowingly cut my anti-anxiety dose almost in half, and never felt a thing. It all started when I began hanging out with the Carnivores on YouTube. The reason they do Carnivore is because itās the cleanest way to eat. Some add in organic carbs, I am one of them. Like organic strawberry yogurt with grape nuts mixed in, some flaxseed meal, and sliced bananas on top. Always before bed. Those are my only carbs, the rest is pure Carnivore. (I do this to stay out of Ketosis, as it makes me a bit hyper, which leads to less sleep.) I never believed this was true, but what you eat really does affect how your brain works. Try not eating anything for a few days or just nibbling on little snacks - your symptoms will skyrocket and youāll end up stuck in fight-or-flight.
I came across this OCD reddit post about someone upping their potassium to help dopamine release. Found some scientific papers online just by searching "potassium and dopamine", feel free to look up yourself! (-:
Has anyone seen improvement from lifestyle changes? If so, what changes did you make?
What meds/doses are you guys on and have they alleviated distress for you?
I tried contacting NOCD, but they said that they didn't accept my insurance, and even if they did, I'd have to provide co-payment. I felt devastated because I'm afraid of going to a therapist who will misunderstand me. I can't afford therapy at the moment but I might be able to in a few months. Are there any alternatives for self therapy?
