soo im 17 , and im on 100 mg of Zoloft. And I’m just kind of thinking am I gonna be on this medicine forever, is this medicine going to mess up my brain, or like the development of my brain it’s really messing with me.
Perhaps you can mention to parent or guardian a suggestion of a DNA mouth swab test that some physicians will write a prescription for that can help determine medication compatibility and drug interactions based on a persons unique genetic information and makeup.
From someone who spent many years on Zoloft, especially around your age, and the same dosage! 1. No you might not be on it forever but try to let it help manage where you’re at right. In so many ways, Zoloft helped me start to live a functioning life again. 2. With that being said I have been off of it for a few years now and am still able to function and live a normal life. However, that was after years of working with the medication, doctors, and therapist to help me create the best treatment plan. 3. I can assure you it will not mess with the development of your brain. I know it can feel so scary and especially being on a medication at such a young age but you’re going to be okay. You are doing amazing already by seeking help and working with a team that is giving you a support plan. Also, being on this platform already will help guide you so much more. I wish I knew about NOCD when I was 17 because I am sure it would have helped expedite my healing journey. You’re doing great and I promise you you’re not alone.

So I’m starting to worry that I may need to stay on Zoloft the rest of my life. Could that be the case??

So I’ve been on Zoloft since ending of October and went on 100mg about 2 weeks ago. I really started feeling the affects and it has made me calmer but I still have a lot of intrusive thoughts and today my mood swings were off the charts which my ocd feeds off of and now my mind feels like it’s racing. It could be because I get on my period in a week but can this still happen while on medication or should I talk to my doctor about a new prescription? What’s the goal of medication if you could just share your story
