I’ve had a few very powerful false memories and one I’ve not thought a lot about. But out of NOWHERE today, it came back to me and immediately was convincing me that the bad thing actually happened. Has anyone else had this? Where it came back out of nowhere and made it seem like it had to be true?
Honestly, I know exactly what you are going through! False Memory OCD is so difficult because it causes you to start worrying about the possibility that something terrible happened! Honestly, it has happened to me so many times! No matter how much you try and go over the past memory! No matter how much reassurance you seek! I know it’s difficult, but you just have to except that you will never have an answer to this doubt/question, and that’s ok! 🫶🏾 OCD is the doubt disorder, it can cause us to doubt everything in life! The best thing you can do to stop OCD is to let the uncertainty and doubt be there! OCD feels real all the time! If it didn’t, then it wouldn’t be so distressing and difficult! Just let the thought and uncertainty be there, and it will naturally pass on by! You got this! 🫶🏾🙏🏽

any advice for when you get false memories that feel really real? especially something that had JUST happened, it’s like ur brain distorts it. i feel like i do something wrong 24/7 then i get over it and ocd latched onto something new
I have been ruminating on why I have been having intrusive thoughts on a specific topic. Anyone know why? Where do they come from? It freaks me out and makes me think that it came from a real memory (I struggle with false memory OCD)
