feeling bad over my emotions

so, a celebrity from a band i loved since i was 5 years old died today. naturally, it made me sad. i was crying over it and everything but, this celebrity recently got revealed as an abuser, and i heard he got caught talking to underage girls i feel bad for even being sad over the fact this guy died. my mom and sister also liked this band and we were all crying over it. i feel selfish for crying, feel bad for being sad, i feel so bad for the victims right now because they’re being blamed im just afraid that crying over this guys death makes me a bad person

I heard about the same celebrity, and I believe that regardless of who someone is, it’s perfectly acceptable to grieve them. They were still a person and empathy is always a good thing.

@cmac1339 thank you. i feel more sympathy for the family, his girlfriend, and the other members of the band. i also feel especially bad for his 7 year old son.

oh wow, i totally get why you're feeling all mixed up right now. it’s like your brain is trying to process two huge things at once—grieving someone you admired and dealing with the reality of their actions. it's completely normal to feel conflicted about this! i remember when i found out about an actor i really liked being involved in something awful, and it triggered a big emotional spiral for me too. i felt guilty for all the times i supported them, and it was hard to reconcile those feelings. but you know what? it's okay to feel sad for the loss of what that person represented in your life while also acknowledging the hurt they've caused. it’s important to remember that emotions are complex and being sad doesn’t make you a bad person! we can feel empathy for the victims and still grieve the loss of someone who once brought us joy. it’s all part of being human, and it’s okay to have these conflicting feelings. maybe try to focus on the positive memories you have with your family related to the band—those moments are still valid and special. and remember, it's okay to feel what you're feeling right now. you're not alone in this, and it will get better with time. sending you lots of strength and hugs! ~~~

Hi! I actually have thought of about this a lot. You’re allowed to feel sad and empathic, he was a person and people are nuanced. He was a struggling human being, much like most people are. His ex did NOT want this for him, and I’m sure she’s upset as well. You can grieve for him not ever receiving help or having redemption. At the end of the day, all people are deserving of help and redemption, and you are allowed, and even justified in grieving the fact that he never got it. His ex publicly speaking up about her abuse, was most likely to draw attention to how bad he was suffering and how much he needed to change, like an eye opener. I promise you that you’re not alone in grieving

Am I a bad person?

Am I bad person? My mom passed away from brain cancer a few months ago. A friend of mines mom also has cancer. But their mom has been improving and doing better. While I’m happy for them I’m jealous that they get their mom to be able to recover and mine died. I feel really bad feeling this way but it just doesn’t seem fair

real event ocd flare up

how do u guys deal with it i feel like throwing up and crying from guilt. i don’t wanna get into what memories i’m thinking of, but they have to do with sexuality as a child. i can’t stop thinking that i had bad intentions and hurt someone because i was a few years older. i was doing fine and this came out of nowhere. i keep thinking what if it’s not ocd and i’m just using ocd as an excuse for my rightfully had guilt. i literally feel paralyzed and debilitatingly shameful. i don’t know what to do. i talked to my friends about it and they kept telling me experiences like that are normal, but i feel like an unreliable narrator or something. i just wanna cry and cry.

why do I feel like a bad person if I was a child?

recently found out that there is a huge possibility i was sexually abused (i still don’t really remember much from it) as a child. i feel like it is my fault. which makes absolutely no sense but i feel like it is my fault because when i was a baby-toddler i was always grabbing women(mainly my mother) because i wanted milk. obviously i did not know any better and would not do that again, but i just feel so guilty? what if i deserved what happened to me because i did that? my mother always talks about how much of an embarrassment i was and that i was so disgusting and nasty as a baby/toddler.
