Does ashwagandha help with ocd and anxiety?
I am honestly desperate to try anything, I tried prozac and it works but it makes me gain weight which makes my body image issues even worse, so I need help. Has anyone tried it?

My fiancè got me to take ashwaganda before I went to the doctors. I only took it for two weeks because my situation got to the point I needed intervention. I am now on a 20mg panic disorder/antidepressant medication. Another supplement that I took was magnesium, lots of people recommend this. Tbh with you I probably didn’t take for a long enough time to see a difference and I was in crisis so I feel my symptoms were too severe for a supplement to change it. Depends on you probably
Im on Prozac and I took ashwghanda and I feel like it helped immediately but that could be a placebo lol
Hi there, I used to take ashwagandha daily and stopped about a year ago. I found it really helped me when things were more mild. I didn’t feel as weighed down with my depression and I was able to cope with my anxious thoughts a lot better than before. However, I would say if things are more severe it may not help. It all just depends on the person though. I say give it a try and worst comes to worst just stop taking it if to doesn’t work out for you. Everyone has different experiences with it :)
I’ve taken it and felt like it did nothing, but I think a GABA supplement may help me. Here is an article is your looking for supplements: https://www.treatmyocd.com/what-is-ocd/info/ocd-stats-and-science/do-any-natural-remedies-help-with-ocd-what-experts-say
My mom was giving me ashwagandha to help with my anxiety and OCD. But later when she told her doctor about this, they told her not to give me ashwagandha since it's not a good supplement to take for OCD.
I used to get very irritable and have severe ocd, while I have only been on Prozac 3 weeks at only 10mg then recently 20mg. I have noticed that although my intrusive thoughts are still there, it’s more manageable like 30% more manageable and I’m hoping with time and if needed an increase of my dosage it could go to 50-90% more manageable. Anyone experience with ssri please share your experience dosage, name, how long it ok to kick in and how is your ocd now on the meds? Thank you
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?
