Also, you stated that we can message about anything, even if it’s not about ocd. I want to just be able to message without getting censored. For example, I am pro life and I’m pro Palestine. Why can’t people just message about these things? Someone’s mind and heart could change, or not, but people should be able to talk to each other. For example, on a pro Palestine group chat, that was called, “Justice in Palestine and in the World,” I messaged some videos about pro life. Then, someone messaged that what’s up with all of these videos, and that everyone should be pro the right to abortion. Thankfully, someone in the group chat defended me and posted this:
“I want to say that I'm deeply disturbed by the way Zahra was treated in this chat group, a chat group that I set up to discuss a range of political issues, not just Palestine.
This is how revolutions "eat their children," i.e., self-destruct.
Zahra comes from an Iranian, Shiite background and is part of the ethnic and philosophical diversity that comprises the pro-Palestinian movement.
To question her commitment to Palestine and deny her voice because her views don't adhere to Western feminist orthodoxy on abortion is abominable.
There are various ways to be a feminist: liberal, socialist, cultural, ecological, radical, etc, etc...
A cultural feminist viewpoint that re-values and re-prioritizes traditional female culture that entails childbearing and life-sustaining caregiving may not support at-will abortion or the androcentric, death-oriented, philosophical orthodoxy that supports it.
As a cornerstone of liberal, i.e., capitalist, materialistic, individualistic feminism, abortion makes a lot of sense.
From a cultural feminist and psycho-existential standpoint, I believe it has also engendered a certain degree of self-alienation among women, both biological and psychological.
Which is not to say that I don't support abortion in exceptional circumstances: life and health of the mother, rape, incest, and non-viability of the fetus, perhaps even before a heartbeat, as a compromise solution, although for most of my political life, I have been strictly pro-choice.
Just because one form of feminism has triumphed in the Western world, don't think that it speaks for all women, everywhere, or even for all women in the West.
As I stated previously, in graduate school, I studied with a very prominent feminist political theorist who acknowledged that there are legitimate arguments to be made on both sides of the abortion debate.
There are liberal legal scholars who will tell you that 'the privacy' argument used to validate Roe v. Wade was flawed, even if abortion should be legalized.
And there are liberal legal scholars who will argue that it should never have been politicized at the federal level but deferred to the states.
We can argue all day long about whether a fetus is a child, but there is no argument that a fetus becomes a child, with increasingly sophisticated technology determining exactly when a fetus is "viable," not some predetermined concept or law.
If you would expel Zahra from the Palestinian liberation movement for her views on abortion, you will be expelling numerous women and men across this movement, nationally and internationally.”
Btw, Fetus is Latin for, “little one.”
Then, there are some right wingers who are pro life, but against really supporting the human beings in Palestine. Then, I posted earlier today on NOCD under a post about elections that to please not vote for Harris/Trump, and to please vote for a third-party candidate who supports Palestinian people, as they are human beings.
I also stated that Jews, Christians, Muslims and many people are united in humanity, which includes human beings in Palestine. My comment was censored. Also, I think someone else’s post got removed, because I couldn’t find it anymore; this person literally messaged:
“Sometimes I think I don't empathize enough
Sometimes I think that when hearing news about idk Gaza or Ukraine I'm not feeling bad enough for the people suffering there, for the people who were tortured and died in such horrible ways. I've seen videos online showing victims of bombings and I didn't feel bad enough.
I feel desensitized from reality. I feel like sometimes it doesn't feel real what I'm seeing but it is real and I'm seeing it! And it's awful!
Sometimes I think about movies and stuff where things look real and they're not and maybe I'm used to watching too many movies and thinking
"oh that's not real" and maybe that's where this come from??”
I mean wtf?! Why are people getting censored from talking about these things?!
