I want to adopt this cat I saw at petsmart, but I have this big issue. Is there a way I can keep the cat in a cage at night? Would that be bad or wrong? I just need sleep and I canāt have my cat get out of my room because we have dogs and they are not friendly to new pets. So I want to keep them in my room or my brothers room
It would be completely reasonable to keep your new furry friend in a kennel during the night. I personally have kennel-trained my cats for this very reason (I have new kitties that don't get on with the others). Just make sure your cat has adequate space to move around, stretch out, and a litter box. Also you can add a cozy bed, water/food bowl, and some toys to keep them occupied during the night. Adopting a cat can be wonderful. They get a loving home and you get a new companion that can be very calming to you. Hope this helpsš

My 4 year old dog still sleeps in a crate - we call it his crib! Otherwise he would bug us all night long. I think training a cat to sleep in a crate would be just lovely.š
To be honest, I think it's not fair to a cat to be locked in a cage. Any of the cats I had in my life would have flipped out, if they were locked in a cage. Also, from what you said, I got the impression, that you want to lock the cat in your room all day and in a cage at night. If that's the case, please, don't get a cat. It's not fair to her/him.
@ZoĆ«_84 If I have a cat, I donāt have a choice but to keep them in my room, youāre not allowed to take cats outside anymore so if youāre doing that you canāt do that, they said if I got the cat, it has to stay indoors because cats kill native birds. Also, I have big dogs and I donāt want the cat to get hurt by them, so I never said I wanted to force the cat to stay in my room. I have too, if I could.. Iād let them out, I already mentioned that in the post. I only wanted to keep the cat in the cage at night so that I could get sleep as I have to drive and stuff during the morning so I need the sleep, and then let them out all day, I didnāt mean to make it sound like demonizing, because Iād get a bigger and comfortable cage not a cramped one, because I still care about animals like how you do. but Iām not saying hey itās fair, i just donāt know how to work around it.
@King silly Well, I suggest, if your cat would only be allowed to be in one room during the day and a cage during the night, don't get a cat, it's just not fair to the animal.

@King silly Well, I know my cats would have gone crazy, if I had locked them in one room for longer periods of time. I just googled. On a government website of my country, it is stated, that a cat, that is not allowed to go outdoors, should be provided with 540 square feet indoor space. On another site, I read, that they should have more than one room to live in. I mean, you do you, but if you love animals, their well-being should be more important to you, than your desire to have a cat.
@ZoĆ«_84 Well all cats are different, you canāt automatically assume all cats are the same, some are fine with it, some arenāt. Thatās fine Exactly my point, because they hunt down native birds and people urge everyone to keep cats inside Also I searched that aswell, and some outlets say no, some outlets say at least 500, 20, 18 square feet, so I wouldnāt be entirely sure about that. I do care about animals, thatās why I want to keep her in my room in the first place, because I have dogs that I have no clue how theyād react to a cat, whatsoever, I never said I wanted to keep her in there, not once, but youāre automatically assuming that I do and making me out to be an evil person, this is an ocd app, that is clearly the opposite of what I want.
bruh I was sleeping & I suddenly am woken up by one of my cats. idk what was happening but she was making a weird howling noise. her tail was puffed up and she was either looking out the window or looking at my other cat. I told her to be quiet bc idk why she was making such a weird noise. thing is, I never heard her do that. then when I threw something on the floor (my bed is a loft), they both kinda flinched. I didnāt hurt them but just needed my girl to relax. they were both looking at each other & my girl was growling/howling at my other cat. idk why. like ik sometimes they fight but she was being weird. anyway, I had to use the bathroom so I did. the door to my room was open which meant they could get out if they wanted. they didnāt. they were by the window. very odd. came back up the bed & now my mind is frightening me. thoughts are racing, ranging from: thereās something/someone at the window, likely some shadow figure to my cats secretly being possessed by some mysterious entity. my mind goes wild & when Iām suddenly woken up, Iām still in that dream state. idk how to put it but my mind starts to believe things and I feel very vulnerable. literally itās night and everyone else in my household is asleep. these moments felt like nightmare fuel & any sudden noise triggered me. like I felt maybe my cats were going to stand on their legs and chant some shit idk. I wanna go back to sleep soon. I need my paranoid ass to calm down. at some point I started to get kinda freaked out just looking at my cats. ruhrjfjdsnnfnf I hate waking up suddenly at night T_T
my cat hides majority of the day to sleep and doesnt eat much at a time. i want to go to bed but im worried that shes so hungry and starving :( i gave her food earlier just in case, she ate a bit, then wanted to go back to her room to sleep. i cant leave the bowl in there because it will make ants show up. im scared shes starving. im so tired. but it doesnt take much to get up
Hey all this is my first post so iām kind of nervous. Iād like to hear feedback from outside sources and people not directly in my life who might be biased. I am not sure if this is an OCD thing or maybe just an anxiety thing but I would love some advice. I am a night owl and the rest of my family is not. Iām an adult who still lives with my parents since iām saving money to move out. Every night I stay up until around 12:30 in our living room to relax and wind down with a quiet house (like my own me-time) and then go to bed. My parentās room is right off the living room and they close their door while Iām awake so they can sleep. They told me not to be up past midnight since their room gets ātoo stuffyā with the door closed. I havenāt been doing well with midnight but try my best to shut everything off by 12:30 at the latest. They got mad that I donāt listen and now say I am not allowed in the living room after they go to bed. So when they go to bed I have to confine myself to my bedroom. I like my routines and thinking about trying to wind down (by reading or crocheting) in my bed feels wrong because my bed is āfor sleepingā only. I feel like I donāt have a comforting safe place to relax before bed now and when I have tried to explain that to them they donāt care and say iām disrespecting them. Iām curious what you might think about the situation and would appreciate feedback, regardless if iām in the wrong or not. It makes me wish I didnāt live here but I donāt really have anywhere else to go.
