I told my therapist that I'm trying to accept the possibility that I'm gay and he told me that that's not going to make my intrusive thoughts go away and that I need medication. He's not familiar with ERP.

Sounds like you need a new therapist. That’s very unprofessional and misinformed

I feel like that’s not a helpful thing to say at all I’m sorry he said that, some therapists just aren’t too educated on ocd in particular (mine isn’t that much either)

I felt like my therapist isnt educated enough too. I also think she might not understand intrussive thoughts at all

Erp is better cause what if you mess up on your meds? Erp helps you face your fears

Did you not tell him you had different information on the topic? It might be helpful to do so

He pretty much told me that we won't be able to discuss certain things until I go on the medication. I was prescribed an anxiolytic aside from the main ssri to take when I'm feeling anxious. He told me that I take it only when I'm anxious and it works instantly. I looked into it and you have to take it everyday for it to work and it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to start working so I'm really confused.

In poland doctors and therapist gives a lot of unnecessary medicines to people cuz they have profits when patient buys certain medicines . Profits like vacation on ibiza and stuff like that
