@bruceWayne1 There is a biblical explanation for almost every mental illness, but you have to be ready to understand that. For now, I will just keep it OCD lingo for you. Everyone has intrusive thoughts, every single person does. What makes us different is only physical. Our brains are hypersensitive to it; We have hyperactive amygdalas, thats it. Therapist won’t tell you this part because they have to keep it scientific, but like I mentioned before they don’t tell you where the intrusive thoughts come from. At this point, it doesn’t matter where it comes from, just like it doesn’t matter if it’s a mouse trap, a fish net, a bear trap, a wolf, a snake, Satan, or like they like to say “the monster.” They all have the same intention, and It’s to trap you and cause destruction. The key to this is to do what I mentioned above, but I left out one part you have to have somewhere positive to go. That’s exactly what they will teach you in OCD therapy, exposure response. They expose you to a situation and they stop you from “checking“. When the anxiety spikes because you’re not checking, you’re supposed to go to a positive place and keep moving boldly. I don’t know where you sit in this category, but I’m just gonna tell you what works for me. My positive place is the Bible (King James Version.) i’ve been in therapy, I have been in other self-help places and I have to tell you by far, this has been the quickest and most peaceful solution, and I can actually say I do not have OCD anymore. You can replace whatever I say with whatever you think is best, but I deny my thoughts I practice with the Bible calls Metanoia I transcend above my thoughts, and I go to the word of God, which is the Bible. The good thing about that is is you can read it over and over and over again and you will learn something different every time. For me anyways. Like I said the key is denying your thoughts and going somewhere positive and just keep moving forward. Don’t get me wrong, I had to make a lot of life changes and that means, all of my free time or any idle time that I have I am in the Bible, or some sort of Bible study. If I go out anywhere without my wife and my family, I make sure I’m surrounded with accountable people. Thats your part…. Never try to fight it alone. Good luck. If you have any questions, just ask.
