Rather than posting about any concerns or questions i have i thought id just reach out to you guys and ask how you’re doing? Ill start… I feel lost, i got a diagnosis of GAD and OCD and i cant afford treatment at the moment, my psychiatrist is experimenting with my meds to see which one is more dominant but no one has offered any kind of help as to how i combat OCD so i guess im just trying to find ways to help myself…
For the time being I recommend watching YouTube videos with people that spealize in OCD
@lexathanasia07 I also really love the live events that NOCD holds, while it’s not therapy or treatment, their Q&As can be helpful in understanding how the OCD brain works. I also have been using the OCD workbook (you can find on Amazon) that has been great help!

I've been diagnosed with the same and am currently seeking a therapist who specializes in OCD. That's kind of all I've been up to, just trying to manage this. That, and a few days ago, I met up with my best friend of almost 12 years! It's been a couple of months since I've seen her. She goes to college out of state... It was fun! Oh, and my psychiatrist raised my dose of medication again, so my intrusive thoughts have been worse. It's always like this when the dose increases, and then it eventually quiets down. I'm glad you received a diagnosis, and I agree with the comment above. Until then, find videos on YouTube or other resources. Nathan Peterson has been a lifesaver for me. He's helpful, informative, and has a relaxing energy about him. I've made a lot of progress thanks to him, and if you decide to check him out, I hope it'll be just as helpful for you as it was for me. There's also OCD workbooks, but I personally haven't had a chance to check them out. I've been given recommendations by other people if you're interested! Let me know, and I'll list them for you! :)
Did you try NOCD? I found them very affordable I am struggling tonight

@MHJ24 Thank you for asking!! Last night I think I had an attack of hypoglycemia. I wasn’t feeling too well. I am learning that now I am getting older that I can’t get away with not taking care of myself, and I am going to have to work a bit harder to eat protein, etc, so that I can feel good. lol, all you guys who are young out there, stay that way! Hahahahaha
@Tea and Honey That sounds awful! I hope you’re feeling better now! Last year i worked really hard on eating better and losing weight and succeeded and was really proud, due to my bad OCD episode in October its all gone pear shaped and it feels so hard to focus on anything else at the moment. Im 27 and starting to feel the ageing 😂
@MHJ24 lol, you are still a young pup!! Yes, OCD interferes with everything, doesn’t it? I can’t even imagine life without the negative influence of OCD.
@Tea and Honey Dont feel it 😂 It does indeed, even if you’re having a lovely time with loved ones or friends its always in the background
So after my ocd has become more prominent, it gets harder to fight through these compulsion’s everyday. I don’t go to therapy or take any medications and to be honest I am very lost in my journey on how to navigate life with ocd. I don’t want it to take over my life. I want to be able to feel like I can live without a weight on my chest and to finally feel like I can breathe. Any suggestions or words of advice is more than welcome.
Hi everyone. I haven't posted on here in quite in some time. I'm hesitant to post but I'm battling some things that are compounding onto each other. I've had ocd since 15 I'm 30 now..I feel it's still there but much better than years ago. Currently though I'm really struggling with depression and trauma too. Atleast I believe it's trauma and my psychiatrist saw some indicators. Long story short I was in a relationship with a narcissist and I'm still recovering. I feel my nervous system is still kinda on fight or flight. I've learned that our bodies very much stores trauma. Alongside this I'm pretty critical of my appearance and my self esteem is not so great. I've been putting myself out there more and socializing but I can't shake this feeling of being stuck in an endless loop. It's hard to tell what to tackle. It's difficult for me..I don't know if ocd treatment is for me or more so trauma based therapy. I think there is some overlap..any advice or feedback would be appreciated. A side note I've done ERP in the past and I've been to treatment centers such as mclean. I feel like I need a community because I feel pretty alone but I'm having trouble putting one foot in front of the other.
Hello, I’m in undergrad and recently was diagnosed with OCD. Its a very new diagnosis and it’s both been stressful and relieving to receive it. Looking back at my past I’ve been able to explain a lot of behavioral issues that I thought were simply attributed to me being “crazy”. It’s comforting to know it’s something that others struggle with and that there are set coping mechanisms and treatments for it. There are a number of thing of which I obsessively think about, and it’s been getting really hard to deal with all of them. The most troubling are my thoughts toward suicide. I can’t stop thinking about it. There’s not really any intent, it’s just like my brain has tuned into a frequency that plays in the background at all times. Usually though this leads to more dangerous behaviors, and so I always try to do any preventative work to keep myself safe. As for the asking for advice portion of this post, what do you all do to combat unending loops of thought? Because I’m so new to my diagnosis, my therapist and I haven’t found good strategies for me yet, outside of just labeling those thoughts as OCD in an attempt to delegitimize them.
