So I watched this movie now I have intrusive thoughts about deformed body parts it's awful. I was thinking how awesome our body's are how it's constructed. Then I had an intrusive thought what if ur privates were on ur arm, leg or face and I've jus been depressed because who has these thoughts other than psychos
I’ll bet that anybody who reads this has the image pop into their head of what you described, so there are plenty other people who have had these thoughts other than “psychos” as you say. So you definitely aren’t alone in that regard. Remember that intrusive thoughts can be about anything and these are no different. I always like what Patrick McGrath from NOCD says when he argues that there’s no such thing as an unacceptable thought and that last time he checked we don’t judge people by the thoughts that pop into their heads. :)))

honestly thats a funny thought lol. thats just natural curiosity. Its kinda like the animal kingdom, what if women had both male and female organs like Heyenas? what if men got pregnant like male seahorses? what if we could spontaneously change our gender in a primarily same-sex environment like clownfish? what if we carried our young in eggs that were embedded in our backs and they hatched form their like the Surinam toad ( eww btw). i think that's an extremely normal and actually interesting thought lol.

I also recently watched The Subatance and it was horrific! I couldnt sleep for a week because I also had intrusive images of the monster at the end. I had to have a funny show play in the background so that my mind could focus on ANYTHING else before I fell into deep sleep. Don’t know if the same type of method would be applicable to you, but attention is so powerful when it comes to tackling things that cause us a lot of anxiety

if it’s one thing i know about OCD is that it will take a completely innocent and normal thought and then twist it. now that you’re aware of this trick that ocd uses, i hope it doesn’t bother you as much. learning its tricks has helped it lose power.
I was having intrusive thoughts of the human body's gross and I was like no it's not it's amazing. Then getting out of the shower (sorry tmi)I thought how our bodies are perfectly made then here comes ocd thoughts of castration and I'm like Jesus christ can I just have positive thoughts
18+ I had an intrusive thought and kept thinking about it but then I realised I wanted to think about it and I thought it and suddenly felt like I enjoyed it and now I feel really scared and disgusted in myself and I might have been thinking it because I genuinely wanted to and enjoyed it even though I feel awful now
Hello all. I (20 y/o female) have an intrusive thought that popped up about four months ago and has not been able to leave my head ever since and it is ruining my life. I have a memory (?) of when I was about 7-9 years old (although I really have no idea and my brain has told me varying ages even going up a few years) when I was in the shower and turned around to see my dad popping his head in the curtain to (realistically) either check on me or try to scare me as a prank. He is the most wonderful father and has never done anything inappropriate aside from this “incident” but my brain cannot let this go and is trying to convince me that this was sexual. I have always been a “daddy’s girl” but some days I cannot even speak to him on the phone because this fear that I was somehow abused is so deep in my brain. I’ll have days where I can reasonably tell myself that even if this did happen, he did not see it as inappropriate because I am his little girl, but other days it will disgust me to no end. I’ve brought it up with him once when my thoughts were at their worst but he said he didn’t even remember it happening. My brain will randomly go “hey, think about this–you’re a victim” through out the day and it’s like my whole body will shut down, my face gets hot and my heart starts beating faster and I just feel like all of the joy has physically been sucked out of my body. It often leaves me in a depressive episode. I can’t even fathom going to therapy out of the fear of my therapist telling me that this really was concerning behavior on behalf of my dad and I don’t think I could handle that. A little while back I posted this on a subreddit and someone in the comments said “this doesn’t give me a good feeling…. But it could have been innocent if you say so” and I haven’t been able to forget this. It send me into a total tailspin, if someone from an outside perspective says it’s weird then it must be??? Ever since this thought has popped up I can’t act normally. I sometimes can’t even watch movies that have dads in them because it makes me think of it, any time I hear a sex joke my skin crawls and god forbid anyone make a “sweet home Alabama” joke around me. I’ve never seen anything online about people who have experienced this too which just makes my worry so much worse. I’ve experienced OCD symptoms since early childhood however never anything like this which makes me even more scared that it is real. I truly don’t know what to do with myself anymore, every day just feels like the precious minutes I have between the times this thought pops up.
I was having a really good day at work and then all of a sudden, I realize that my harm OCD wasn’t there and then that reminded my brain to think about all these horrible things. I’ve been having really bad intrusive thoughts about wanting to hurt people or the fear of doing these things and I caught myself ruminating on things like oh well did this movie make me feel uncomfortable so I can reassure myself that I don’t wanna do these things and it’s just that fear like that I’m gonna wanna do it and it’s not even people that I’m close to. It’s literally anyone it could be like a random stranger thing about these things cause I know that’s a compulsion. So I thought I would put a message out to see if anyone could relate or has any advice.
