Hello, i know its late but i did have one question, is Hocd actually beatable? Like can you fully recover from it? Menajng no more false attraction, no more it feels real, i have confidenve im not gay but straight, no more doubts, basically meaning can you beat HOCD?

Wow thats awesome that you beat it, question for you, Im in this really tough position where my HOCD feels untouchable, Like I get thoughts and feelings, false attraction, convincing feeling, feels super real and convicning, as if it feels like im actually gay, like gay feeling lol, constant doubt, etc. every single day non stop. My attraction to women is gone, My porn use is very bad and addictive and I believe it is a big reason why I don't find women attractive anymore as well as HOCD. Im at a point now where it feels like I'm just managing it, like Im not making it feel better or actually recovering but I just let it be there. And sometimes I will do compulstion sometimes I will do ERP and accept it off and on. But I don't want to have this anymore and actually BEAT HOCD, not just"manage it" because it doesn't work, I want to fall in love and get my attraction both physically and sexually back to women, I want to get rid of the false attraction, I want to be confident Im straight again, I do not want to be gay. but like I said the feelings and sensations feel so real and convining.
@Anonymous i’ve gotten false attraction in hocd and rocd. i got hocd rly bad twice where id get false attraction and i kept myself rly busy both times and the thoughts went away. honestly, for me rocd is the WORST THEME ive ever had but ive been ruminating about it 24/7. i know once i start to get busy again it will lessen and fade over time. ik it doesnt seem like it but erp will help. i wish i did that with my rocd cus now i have really bad avoidant behaviours and other compulsions.
@helpisappreciated48 Thank you very much for helping, yeah hocd is the worse for me. One more question, did the false attraction and thoughts feel real and genuine? Like it felt like well real attractioj. And at times went it got bad you felt"gay"?
@Anonymous oh 100%. deep down i think you know your not actually gay. you gotta remember way worse things could happen to you and if you were gay it wouldn’t be the end of the world. this theme was horrible and confusing but at the time during a more severe episode i was striving to recover from a really bad eating disorder and was in my final year of school so it kinda just went away eventually.
@helpisappreciated48 - but thats the thing tho is I dont, whenever I say Im not gay or try to convince myself, it feels like im lying to myself, constant doubts, but now it feels like the gay feelings are 100% true. But I guess action wise theres a reason why I keep fighting right?
@Anonymous honestly the best thing i think we can both do is get off this damn app cus we know it’s a compulsion. the reality is regardless of all the reassurance i could spoon feed you, this is a compulsion and will only fuel your ocd. thus, making it exponentially worse. have u tried erp? or are u actively with a therapist?
@helpisappreciated48 - Im beginning my true journey I like to say as i did get a therapist, had one session so far.
That’s personally what helped me the most in that situation. Knowing what was going on in my head and realizing it was my OCD and not giving it power… easier said than done, especially with the sexuality thing though but honestly, constantly being surrounded by sex whether TV music or what not it affects us all
It can fade. I have been dealing with all different strains of ODC pretty much my whole life and the good news is, a lot of times certain fears and focuses get smaller over time. It’s kind of like going through phases. Also when it comes to sexuality, the older you get the more you learn about yourself and what you’re really into but I get it, having OCD makes it more complicated. I struggled with that before and it’s just going to take time and redirecting your mind because the more you ruminate the more confused you’ll make yourself.
How bad was your Hocd? Like did you get false attraction?, it felt super real and convincing? Never cinfident about being straight?
I was terrified as a kid that I was gay because I was always taught that it was not the way God intended us to live. As I got older I will admit, I experimented (not suggesting that or anything) and yea I had fun but something felt off and empty. I learned that having sexual thoughts does not mean you want to be with someone in a relationship. Later on I learned about God myself and everything became more clear (not just about my sexuality) and those fears didn’t mean anything anymore… But God is a whole other conversation but that was my journey with that.
@Jax.Saw.The light Are u a man or woman because if ur a man ur proving that ur hocd was real and that u like guys but people with hocd don’t like guys and don’t want it. Like I have hocd and would never want to be wit a guy. And by the way I’m not hating on gays but that’s jus not hocd.

yeah I want to be with girls, but I get constant doubt about it as if I don't actually want to be, as if I don't actually like them and it sucks because I want to be with women so bad.

If you keep ruminating on the thought, it’s only gonna get worse. I had had an intrusive thought in my head saying “what if I’m in love with my cat (not exactly the same but close enough) , but I knew for a fact that it wasn’t true so I chose to focus on other thoughts until that one went away because I was just going to drive myself nuts and asking people the same question is only going to make it worse. Since you are having such an issue with these thoughts about sexuality, maybe you should take a break from trying to either get in a relationship or focus on anything sexual. Like avoiding movies and stuff that have a lot of sex or relational issues so you can get a chance to focus on other things.

Think logically. Literally. Take me as an example. I have hocd and my obsession is “what if I’m gay”. I’ve liked girls my whole life, I can still get aroused by them and I can’t get the same instinctive reaction from a guy. So I can’t be gay. Sometimes ocd will go to something else once you prove it wrong. Maybe like. “What if I’m bi” again I can only get aroused by girls. Sometimes when I’m not thinking about it I can even get aroused when sitting next to a girl or when I’m sitting next to one or even when I’m touching one in a non sexual way. Something that never happens or has happened with a guy in my life. Don’t start panicking. Just “realise” who you are and who you’ve been.
Hi all, I deal with HOCD and been seeing a therapist for about 3.5 months. It has definitely got better but still affects me very much. Was wondering there is anyone out there who has dealt with HOCD as well and has recovered. I would love to message or even chat just see how your experience was and hear what was beneficial to you.
I’ve recovered from HOCD before and got my attraction and my usual actual identity back. I was recovered from end 2022- start 2025 until I got triggered UGHHH😭 My HOCD is REALLY trying to convince me and it’s SO annoying cause I genuinely don’t want these thoughts. I know I naturally like men and always have done so. I can’t wait for my first therapy session in two days Omg! I need your advice, not necessarily reassurance, but more advice? My HOCD is throwing random “proof” I did/ saw as a child in my face, which back then had no meaning in my life and I continued to live a perfectly heterosexual life. I’ve educated myself about arousal non concordance / child’s play, but it still doesn’t remove the HOCD. I’ve read therapists great explanations on how it’s not a sexuality issue, BUT ITS AN OCD BRAIN ISSUE. So basically I’ve been straight and i will die as straight. But my ocd is still continuing with the intrusive thoughts/flashbacks. I’ve had some moments where I haven’t done as many compulsions and had less anxiety but still had those damn thoughts and I DO NOT want those damn thoughts. I have so much proof and factual/logical explanations but HOCD is still continuing to thrive. I absolutely hate this and I feel so alone. I wish there was a reset button cause I don’t want these thoughts to happen. I want a man and I stand by that. How do y’all deal with these situations? Cause sitting with the thoughts is clearly not helping.
