Hi all! I am on Zoloft 100mg and I was hoping to get some feedback! My biggest fear is being suicidal and sometimes I’m like checking to see if I am suicidal on the medication but then I think maybe it’s my ocd. My doctor wants to go higher but I’m wondering if this is a good idea based on my thoughts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Hi! I've had a long journey with Zoloft. I started at 50mg and over a number of years and different doctors, I've progressed to 225mg. I also experienced insane stress about increasing every single time but found that each time, my psychiatriat was very understanding about my concern and willing to talk me through risks, benefits, and how it works. Ultimately, each time has been best decision for me and actually helped with my depression and SI. I think for me, the idea that your increase does NOT have to be permanent helpsn If you do go higher and experience issues, you can always taper back down!

Suicide OCD is one of my biggest themes. I avoided increasing my SSRI does for a long time because I heard that sometimes a side effect is that they can make you feel suicidal. It made me terrified to try. It was like a catch 22. I knew a higher dose could help with my OCD symptoms, but my OCD symptoms and fears around suicide made me terrified to do it. After doing some ERP therapy and learning more about how the combination of SSRI's and ERP provides the most relief from OCD, I took the plunge and increased the dose of meds. It was scary working with the uncertainty at first, but the increase has helped a lot with symptoms. Do you have an OCD therapist to talk this through with? Med changes or not, they can help you a lot with finding peace from these fears.
