Hello, I totally understand why you're feeling uncertain. OCD really loves to make us question everything, even when we think we’ve got it figured out. In situations like this, it helps to practice living in the grey area. We don’t need to know for sure whether a thought is OCD or not. The key is to treat all the thoughts as OCD and just use the tools, no matter what they are. When I get swarmed with all these thoughts, I just notice them and acknowledge, like, "Wow, there are a lot of thoughts," or "That was weird," but I don’t try to figure them out. I just keep going and continue with what I’m doing. It’s definitely not easy, and it takes practice, but not engaging with the thoughts and just moving forward is a big part of the process. OCD will always try to make you wonder, “Is this OCD?” but in the long run, it doesn’t matter. What matters is sticking with the process, using the strategies you’ve learned, and not getting caught up in trying to figure it all out.

@Anonymous - Hey, Thank you for sharing that. I completely understand how challenging it can be when OCD attaches itself to new compulsions, like your breathing compulsion. I had something similar where I used to hold my breath and breathe in patterns to manage distress. It’s definitely hard to break those patterns, but it is possible—it just takes time and persistence. It sounds like OCD is trying to make you doubt your recovery. It might help to think of OCD as something separate from you, like an annoying friend who constantly gives you advice because it thinks it’s protecting you, but it’s not. I do that to my OCD, when I start with intrusive thoughts, I am like., "Oh gosh there goes OCD" It’s painful when OCD makes you think you’ll lose the love of your family or that you’re a horrible person. I get that. But those thoughts are just part of OCD’s tricks. Thanks again for sharing!
