Pocd as parent

I was giving my child a bath. I picked her up out the tub because shes small. But the momentum of picking her up she swang a little toward my body and ocd said did i hip thrust kr do anything wrong. I did a compulsion saying NO repeatedly. And i put her back down and beforehand i didnt have any ill intent just to help her get out because shes a toddler. I had other intrusive thoughts but tbats not my intent i was just trying to be a good dad

I understand how u feel I have been in this situation with my son and the disgust that I felt in myself even tho I didn’t do anything with ill intent ruined my entire day and made me not want to be around him because I felt scared. U are an amazing dad for doing what u are supposed to as a parent. I think the fear comes from wanting to protect them even if it’s protecting them from urself. Reassuring urself is key🤍

@Annoying_OCD I have read that POCD is caused by anxiety and not desire so yes I’m my opinion I would consider it to be. The hardest part about having ocd is ERP (exposer and response prevention therapy) is the most effective treatment. Tapping into this part of ourself to prevent not only these thoughts but fears seems damaging until I successfully complete the task. I am going to reassure u that having these thoughts does not make u a bad person because u have no ill intent behind them. I’ve learned that having OCD can be almost crippling without treatment. I suffered with POCD my whole life and never knew along with other subtypes and it almost ruined me not knowing what was wrong and made me second guess my diagnosis. U are not alone we are all here to help. The best advice I could give u is to just stay on top of treatment because the best part about having OCD is that it is treatable. Do what’s best to ease ur mind u don’t deserve to suffer ur whole life🤍

@Annoying_OCD This was my response to it @Annoying_OCD I look at it as if I’m trying to save everyone else from my thoughts because I’m terrified of what these thoughts lead to in other people. I believe mine started because of the sexual abuse I endured as a child. Every time I get intrusive thoughts about me doing or thinking something wrong my mind goes straight back to those moments. For me it’s a fear of becoming the abuser so yes I’m those moments I do consider myself a monster

@Annoying_OCD Honesty I’m not too sure about the enjoyment part. I’m not a therapist but I think it would be a good part of erp for u to be able to read that for urself and look more into it. With the way our minds work and ocd is so complex i wouldnt be surprised if it was. I’m glad u found my comment!!

VERY stressed and ruminating. Please comment POCD

Please read and comment kindly. Really looking for support. My child was laying across me and every time I breathed a certain way I was getting a groinal sensation. I kept breathing like that anyways (ugh idk why), and then my mind told me I had hurt them that I might as well do something else because what's more. So idk why or what overcame me other than the thought of doing it and causing another feeling (I literally had to question what to do during this and the only thing I could come up with was to move my elbow towards her groin area) but it came across my mind to elbow my child, and I elbowed their crotch or side area. Which caused another unwanted groinal sensation. Then I began FREAKING smooth out and asked my child to move. Then I've been stressing since. I feel like as a mom I don't deserve to be theirs anymore. Idk what overcame me, and in the moment, it felt like I wanted to move my elbow, but I know that can also be my OCD speaking. Right? I clearly regret it all and hate myself. I would never intentionally hurt my child; I don't know what happened in my head when this happened. I was doing SO well! Is this my POCD that I've been diagnosed with by my OCD specialized therapist? Just a struggling mom who used to be the best of the best. I'm very depressed by this. Idk what to do with myself. I live in regret now, and I just wish it would've never ever happened. I can't stop ruminating and being depressed thinking I don't deserve anything.

Pocd

I had to give my daughter a bath and wanted to help my wife bear the responsibility also read online pocd to not avoid bathing. I told myself I am going to bathe my child because im a good dad. As i bathed her i went to wipe her arms and torso. I was going to get her armpit and arm but with the sponge I wiped her chest erogenous area. Then i got anxious and did a compulsion and said “im sorry”. Then ocd said whyd i wipe there ni shouldve wiped her arm or armpit. Was i doing anything inappropriate. Or ocd said not to wipe there and I did so did i do anything inappropriate or with inappropriate intent. I hate having pocd and living parallel with this voice in my head. I know my intention wasnt inappropriate i even prep talked before and did the compulsion of apologizing after wiping. Now im questioning whyd i wipe there first before her arms and armpit since ocd told me to avoid her chest. Then i worry did i have ocd intrusive thought saying i wanted to wipe there and if i had this thought and i wiped there than it means i acted on the thought. I know i wouldnt do anything inappropriate to my child and i know my intent wasnt wrong.
