Anyone else struggling with reading their bible or having a certain feeling to feel like God loves them and if they don’t it ruins their whole time with God. Makes pursuing him really hard. Any tips ?
I always try to remember that God can see always see our intentions and our hearts - he sees through our thoughts and knows we’re trying to set aside time for him. Being intentional with your time I think is important so you can train yourself to do it daily, and sometimes the time isn’t always well spent and that’s okay - being human means we aren’t always perfect, hope this is somewhat helpful!
My whole life. I believed God himself abandoned me totally and my intrusive thoughts were demonic. But the truth is God did not abandon me. I couldn't feel him but he was there because I am alive and he showed me a way to get treatment and help. You even posting this and seeking help is God helping you get near Him and showing you that OCD is a liar.
Also my pastor said "perfection is not a prerequisite for good. "

@Drew777 Probably my whole life although my big mental breakdown occurred when I was 14. Lots of intrusive thoughts and compulsive praying for hours then.
@julianofnorwich Honestly, I've probably been struggling with OCD my whole life too, but it really started to have a bigger effect on me when I went into 9th grade, so since I was 17 or 18 or so. I dealt with lots of intrusive thoughts as well. I didn't really pray much back then, but I pray a lot now. I don't think I compulsively pray, though, but I know that is definitely something that can occur. Aside from the NOCD app and community here, do you have any other resources or outlets for dealing with your OCD?

Hey, I’ve been trying to grow in my Catholic faith, but my ocd makes it very hard. I read a passage about a saint going through a great ordeal and start panicking that I need to give up everything and be martyred painfully. I seem to always hyperfocus on unhelpful book passages that make me afraid of God and see Him as a tyrant. I admire those who can read others words on faith, but I get suicidal, self harm, or turn away from God because I get sucked in so deep. That’s the obsessive part of ocd. Do you have any tips on how to get past this?
So I am a practicing Catholic, and I've gotten into reading the Bible this year, praying the Rosary, things like that, and while I love to do that, my OCD has been seeming to take over, in ways such as like I have to read the Bible for a certain amount of time before I'm satisfied with the time read, or something along those lines, and it's starting to make the thought of praying and reading the Bible unenjoyable, which is really hurting me inside, because I used to and want to enjoy it so bad, but now this is making it really hard to, because it feels like I don't have control over my own thoughts, and little things trigger the thoughts, it's just so annoying. If there's anything anyone thinks I can do to combat this please let me know.
So about 2 years ago I gave my life to Jesus. I've always been a "Christian" but never truly lived liked one. Honestly never truly felt love for them until 2 years ago. It was the best couple months of my life!!! I felt so happy and loved and unstoppable! I thought this fire for God & Jesus will never burn out. One day I had a thought about is God real? It bothered me so bad and I went into a massive spiral. Doubting everything. My faith. if I was good enough. Am I really saved? Do I have enough faith? Is my doubt real? Is it too much? Have these blasphemous made God not want me anymore? Or Jesus? :( But I knew I was and that they were real! I know I've heard them. Then I started having horrible blasphemous thoughts but then it would go back to doubting thoughts then back to the blasphemous ones. I hated the thoughts and doubts. The thoughts are so mean towards God, Jesus & HS. It’s anywhere from evil thoughts to cussing thoughts to rejection thoughts/denying. Demonic thoughts. Literally anything bad you could think of! Even thoughts of if I really love them or wanna follow them. I learned about OCD from what I've looked up but I've been dealing with this for about 2 years now. It's hard. I doubt if it’s OCD. Definitely feel like I'm trapped or my faith isn't the same. Which makes me sad because I want my faith! I feel like I've gotten lazy and honestly that I don't deserve them or am "too far gone" from them. I feel like idk how to be a Christian or how to have faith or just exist tbh. I wanna love God & Jesus! I want faith! I just feel kinda stuck. Has anyone gone through this or has advice or tips?
