Does OCD make you feel like a bad person?
In addition to the scary intrusive thoughts and time-consuming compulsions, OCD often goes hand in hand with a lot of guilt, and it can even make you feel like you're a bad person. This is often due to the content of our intrusive thoughts, especially if they're about taboo topics or related to harm, but worrying about being a bad person is also central to OCD themes like moral scrupulosity OCD. Facing OCD stigma and misinformation on top of those factors can further contribute to the shame and guilt we might feel. It's important to know that OCD is ego-dystonic, which means that the intrusive thoughts and doubts we experience do not reflect our real values and desires. They’re the complete opposite of who we truly are, and they don’t define us. Does OCD ever make you feel like a bad person?
