Hello everyone. I have OCD and panic disorder. I take Prozac and Klonopin when needed. Has anyone here who has panic ever awaken from sleep in a panic? It has happened to me twice and I get really upset not understanding why this happens when I first wake. Is this common or not so much?thanks
Yes I’ve had it happen to me. At night during my panic attack I couldn’t stop moving my legs. I could feel a sensation that forced me to move my legs like crazy and my body would burn red hot. When I tried to sleep I woke up multiple times throughout the night. When I tried to fall asleep or when I got sleepy, I was immediately woken up by my panic. Then when I woke up I woke up with heart palpitations and fear and all of this happened while I was on meds. So yes I understand what it’s like and you’re not alone!!
Hi! I’m so sorry to hear that you also suffer from panic attacks. I have for many years and have definitely been woken up by a few, which almost feels worse because you’re more vulnerable and really weren’t expecting it. What has helped me is using a weighted blanket, sometimes taking a shower afterwards or going on a little walk, just coming back to consciousness and staying mindful. Maybe put on a tv show or movie you enjoy to start relaxing to get back to sleep. Good luck and I wish you well! 💚
When i am in an ocd cycle, this happens pretty regularly, however, the medication and not doing compulsions really helps me
@Anonymous Do you feel like extra stress makes you go into an ocd cycle? It seems like when things are falling apart around me that my ocd is a lot worse
can anyone give me some insight on this? i was given 20 mg of prozac by my doctor to help me calm down while i wait for a psychiatrist appointment for ocd (i went in for an ekg because i was worried. nothing was wrong) yesterday was the 2nd dose, should i expect anything? i almost feel like it keeps me up at night since i take it around 7 pm, and i already have been sleeping poorly for a week or so.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I wake up early with severe, severe anxiety and nothing seems to help. I try embracing the anxiety, breathing, and exercising. But these things only seem to help a little. Fortunately, I do think the length of the attacks are getting shorter (mainly because I'm still trying my best to live normally in spite of them), but they are still lasting a good 5-6 hours. They are quite debilitating. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with these? I've read much about potential solutions (being okay with the anxiety), but I was looking for some personal antecdotes. Thank you
I am having a really hard time with ocd and anxious thoughts and feeling extremely uneasy. I'm home alone today so it's really easy for me to get stuck in my thoughts. I'm on day 4 of prozac. I felt like yesterday I had a period of time of about 30 minutes where I felt really focused and like the anxiety lifted completely. But then an obsession started and it brought me right back down. Hopefully I feel relief again today. I'm going to go get some house work done to take my mind off of things. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with prozac? How long until you felt any relief? Any really bad side effects? Any unforseen pluses? Much appreciated.
